I am sure DeSantis would prefer not to get sucked into Trump's bullshite drama but it's kind of hard when Trump and his lunatic supporters are the ones constantly attacking him and putting him in this position. DeSantis is just out doing his job yet Trump is trying is damndest to suck him into his vortex.

Now Trump's dumbass is getting indicted and DeSantis likely gets dragged into this as well since Trump is a Florida resident.

I wish Trump would just get back to discussing the things that made him successful but he is just incapable of doing it and its why he is such a huge turnoff to so many.

Taking a light stance on Democrats using the power of the government to prosecute and take Trump out of the race is not an example of "the slightest most deserved criticism of Trump".

I'm struggling to think of a worst example of "the slightest criticism" than that.

A lot of people (myself included) has always liked Desantis and liked what he did as governor. People like me really want to like him.

But, people like me also place zero in the Republican party itself. I'm not loyal to the Republican party. I'm not even a registered Republican.

You are a party loyalist. It's important to you. It's not to me. Frankly, I think the status quo of the Republican party is a major problem with our country.

You can talk your head off here but all of us have seen you worshipping at the Trump alter for years and never ever deviating from the party line to think for yourself.

I'm not a Republican. I'm more conservative than you and Trump and DeSantis. I don't think getting DeSantis elected will make a difference for the trajectory of the country in the longterm, but I also don't want to spend another wasted cycle on Trump if he's incapable of changing his conduct.

The reality is this, we're just buying time. Ron is a better choice for that because (a) he's the more substantive candidate and more likely to complete some of the things he starts and (b) he can sell the ideology to the public far better than Trump, perhaps enough to win.

This isn't true for a not insignificant portion of Trump Loyalists. 20%, according to GumboBro, and it's likely higher than that. DeSantis needs to focus on winning the votes he can win and leave the cultists behind to pout. That's how we win a general election. If he loses the nomination that way, so be it. It comes down to whether Trump's people want DeSantis or Biden.

He should be out there making the case for why he can win and why Trump can't. Using the leftist "Stormy Daniels" talking points is a mistake. It just is.

Be more specific. What did he say that has you riled? Careful, though, you're about to prove my point in a big way.

What's Trump's and why didn't he do it when he had four years?

Desantis has not hinted he'll run for president. All the smoke we see is being created through anonymous sources, rinos, trump, Democrats and msm.

Clearly DeSantis is being counseled by the mega donors and the Paul Ryans that he needs to wait for Trump to be indicted and perp walked, then he can make an announcement. Problem is that is too late, he will also be seen as a GOPe stooge not representing We The People.

This is pretty dumb dude

I doubt DeSantis wants Trump arrested, both because he thinks it's a corrupt abuse of power (which he said emphatically and you ignored) and because politically it doesn't really help him in the primary.

I'm not Ron DeSantis. I'll let him worry about that.

I wasn't really asking for information. I already know the answer. I was simply highlighting the hypocrisy.

Maybe some, but you're quite wrong on that. DeSantis hasn't yet shown he is fully up for the task at hand and looks like he's is fully guided by what the GOPe allows him to do. I'd gladly vote for him if he proves to be the guy we need.

If I'm not mistaken, Trump has released many videos recently on his plans. But you do you.

It's accurate. I voted for Trump and it doesn't apply to me; if it doesn't apply to you it shouldn't bother you. I've posted them here before, but look up the characteristics of a cult and tell me some Trump voters don't fit the mold

It’s not representative of the people I’m referencing. You are using tat rhetoric because you believe it’s effective.

I’ve been very explicit about the characteristics of the voters, their concerns and how it applies to this subject.

But you are in an election whose bar has been raised to 81M votes due to fraud and harvesting. Desantis needs the guys I’m talking about and the cultists if he’s going to win.

You whine about it but it’s reality.

What about DeSantis hasn't shown that he's "up to the task?" His record and popularity as Governor of Florida? His 20 point beat down of a popular former Governor of Florida? His cleaning up of the state, pushing other Republicans along? Him absolutely smoking woke DAs and admin officials?

Yeah, no way he could take on a potato in the general election.

I don't give a frick about his plans. He had plans in 2016, too. We saw him fail for four years, but you think it will be (D)ifferen(T) this time because...well, just becase.

If that's "what a lot of people are objecting to," I know for a fact those people have not listened to RDD SPECIFICALLY excoriate Bragg on that exact point. I know for a fact, they've not read his statements eviscerating Dems for "weaponizing the government to target their political opponents."

He has

I might note that several of them are almost verbatim copying positions of Ron DeSantis on major culture war issues that DeSantis has actually undertaken in Florida

And that is great stuff. Need to hear how he would roll out his attack on DC. I'd love to hear it. It would be great to have DeSantis and Trump both detailing non-stop how they would each dismantle the commie garbage the Dems have and are still trying to implement.

Maybe we wait until DeSantis actually says if he's even running?
