DeSantis has most of Trump’s strengths without his many weaknesses

If you’re a GOP voter I don’t know why you wouldn’t support him over Trump in 2024. He has many of the same policy positions and is similarly effective in his attacks on the media, but he does so in a much more controlled/competent way without coming off like a raging a-hole.

Yet when I see early 2024 polls Trump is still getting more than double the support that DeSantis does among GOP voters. Makes no sense to me.

I always find it amusing when liberals tell the republicans what they should do.

I think being a Naval Officer will help his appeal too especially among the moderates

For fricks sake it's TRUMP/DeSantis in 2024 with DeSantis as VP then 8 more years after with DeSantis as president.

Are you planning on supporting DeSantis if he runs?

I’m looking at it from a dispassionate political analysis.

1. Hero worship

2. People think the best way to win is to be loud and combative.

Our country might stand a chance to get back on its feet and be able to stare down the CCP.

Why would Desantis agree to VP after seeing what happened to Pence after he didn’t acquiesce to the cult of personality around Trump?

It doesn’t matter. This happens every 4 years.

Why the hedge? Are there other Republicans you'd prefer? Democrats? Who if so?

Because the election is 3 and a half years away.

ETA: If I had to pick right now I’d vote for him over Biden or Harris.

I don't think people grasp the absolute disaster that Trump round 2 would create.
Literally @ least 1/2 the country HATES him, not just moderately dislikes. You want to see liberals really get pissed and rise up....give him a round 2.

Pretend it's tomorrow. If can only say you'd consider supporting DeSantis, what can you foresee that might change your mind such that you wouldn't?

Acquiesce is a fancy way of saying backstab.

DeSantis isn't a traitor like Pence so why would he worry about that?

I edited to say I would vote for him over Biden or Harris.

I would not vote for Trump bc I don’t think he’s competent.

Biden or Harris vs Cruz or something and I’m probably voting 3rd party.
