I think the answer is, for you, that he is a radical as you would define it. Whether that is consistent with the mainstream of American public opinion is another matter.

Anyone trying to peddle the narrative that it’s really the republicans trying to defund the police is not looking for honest discussion.
Defunding the police and crime will be major issues for the midterm elections and democrats know they are on the losing side of those issues. So like a good little foot soldier, he shows up here to try to convince everyone that democrats are really the law order party.
Democrats desperately need the look of being weak on crime off their backs and what better way to do it then gaslight the public into believing it’s really the republicans who are anti-police.
