WTH is going on here? Just walked in the room & Fox is reporting this. Please discuss...I believe it pertains to Warner...?

No idea. I’m at a bar where the N.C.-Duke game is about to come on.

I don’t know the whole story, but Burr is defending Warner. North Carolina needs to boot his arse out of office.

Drinking cranberry juice?
ETA: I only caught the end if the interview. It sounds pretty sketchy.

Warner is a POS.
I’m concerned Burr is too weak.

Burr is a limp noodle. I don't believe he does anything without Warner's okay.

Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee who has been leading a congressional investigation into President Trump's alleged ties to Russia, had extensive contact last year with a lobbyist for a Russian oligarch who was offering Warner access to former British spy and dossier author Christopher Steele, according to text messages obtained exclusively by Fox News.
“We have so much to discuss u need to be careful but we can help our country," Warner texted the lobbyist, Adam Waldman, on March 22, 2017.
"I'm in," Waldman, whose firm has ties to Hillary Clinton, texted back to Warner.
quote:
Secrecy seemed very important to Warner as the conversation with Waldman heated up March 29, when the lobbyist revealed that Steele wanted a bipartisan letter from Warner and the committee’s chairman, North Carolina Republican Sen. Richard Burr, inviting him to talk to the Senate intelligence panel. Throughout the text exchanges, Warner seemed particularly intent on connecting directly with Steele without anyone else on the Senate Intelligence Committee being in the loop -- at least initially. In one text to the lobbyist, Warner wrote that he would "rather not have a paper trail" of his messages.

Needs to be held accountable for his actions. Goes straight to the fact that it is the Democratic party who is in, or trying to be in, Putin's bed!

I heard Martha's segment on it. Basically, they are claiming they have texts from Warner showing he was trying to meet Steele in private to get his story. Apparently Steele said he would only get involved if it was bi-partisan (no off-the-record stuff).
Reps will claim Warner was being underhanded trying to get info "illegally" from Steele. Dems will say he was only doing his job trying to convince Steele to testify.
I guess we'll see.
EDIT: Just read the Fox News article posted above. Seems worse than I assumed. Looks bad for Warner.
BTW, why the frick has Steele not testified yet?

Don't mean to derail the thread, but I have the same thought about another "What the hell is going on here"..
Two border agents..one beaten to death, the other with bad injuries. They were sent out there on a complaint of "suspicious activity". FBI investigates to determine what happened. Were they attacked by illegal aliens..gang members? One is dead..the other agent. "Can't remember a thing about what happened"..the FBI determines they weren't attacked by anyone. Media doesn't even seem interested?? WTF??
*Again..sorry to derail the thread, I just wanted to get it out there before it slipped away*.

Sen. Mark Warner,
Shouldn't he be under ethics investigation? I mean, this is highly unusual isn't it? Where are all the people attacking him like they did Devin Nunes?

Warner was seeking to establish contact with Steele as part of the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation into Russian election meddling.
quote:
Rubio, who sits on the Intelligence panel, tweeted that Warner had disclosed the contacts to the committee last year and that they had "zero impact" on its ongoing probe into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia in 2016. "Sen.Warner fully disclosed this to the committee four months ago.Has had zero impact on our work," Rubio tweeted.
