Ummmmm no. We tried that. The government forced Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to accept larger numbers of sub prime loans to push minority housing initiatives. That same policy is what jump-started the housing crisis.

If you spend over a 1/3 of your income on housing you get a tax credit... in other words if you are terrible at budgeting your salary we will give you more free money to waste
