More Republicans voted in Virginia than Democrats, yet somehow they lost both chambers in the state government. That would make sense if they had an electoral system or if the Republicans controlled the large population centers, but we know that's not the case.

What's going on in Virginia? Something seems odd.

ALso, take a look at Kentucky. More than 20k people voted for governor than they did for attorney general. Both races were on state-wide ballots, I'm supposed to believe that people cast a vote for governor but didn't take the time to vote for AG? In an election decided by 4k votes, questions need to be asked.

Yeah something doesn’t add up. How can 40k more republicans vote in VA but it flips blue? Doesn’t make sense. Same for KY. Somethings not right

I would assume that the Dems basically won all their district in tight races and the Republicans had landslides in all their districts.

Winning a district in a landslide doesn’t get you bonus points.

VA voter registration does not include party affiliation, so not sure you can definitively say more Republicans voted. But as someone else pointed out, most densely populated areas skew heavily blue in VA (as in many parts of US).

Can explain why they are blue in Presidential, US Senate, and gubernatorial elections.

Also depending on how districts are drawn can explain why they went blue in their state representative elections.

Clear trend in VA for years now, yesterday's result pretty widely expected.

Democrats ran unopposed by a Republican in many of the districts. The Republican Party didn't even submit a nominee to run against these leftists. A Republican candidate probably would have lost regardless in those Northern Virginia swamper counties, but still? Here is a link that shows which Dems ran unopposed or opposed by an Independent. See for yourself. Sickens me. Can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket. LINK

To be fair, eating the civil service leeches would effectively shrink the federal government, at least for a bit considering how onerous the hiring process is.

VA as the "deep south"

Virginia is the upper South, not "deep south".

Alabama or Louisiana flipped blue

Actually both. Hence Doug Jones and Jon Bel Edwards.
