DEI/Reparations in action...

Yesterday I witnessed a DEI/Reparation adjustment at my local Harbor Freight store. As I was standing in line with several other honest shoppers, a middle-aged black dude with a fully loaded basket of tools walked right past us to the front door and out to his truck. He calmly loaded his bed with his reparations and drove off. Cashier asked him to stop several times but did not attempt to hinder him in any way.
Hispanic dude behind me looks at me and says laughingly, "DEI and Reparations in action."

It'll keep on happening because liberal DAs won't prosecute them. My friend moved out of DC because of this. He said before he'd get in his car, he'd have to look up and down the street for any black kids. If he saw one, he'd walk away because he knew he'd get car jacked. The DC DA's would never prosecute car jackings so they happened with impunity.

Most stores have a policy of not confronting shoplifters...
This policy along with no prosecution is what has led to much of the blatant crime... Unfortunately, it will only get worse...

Worm’s gonna turn. And at this point, I think that the DEI crew is about to realize exactly how much everyone else hates them.

No prosecution is the biggest issue.
The store can have Loss Prevention at the door to prevent this thing, but not being able to have them arrested while also having the potential for a lawsuit or bad PR off it causes them to not do it.
It turns confronting into a net neutral at best (regain merch) to potentially being a costly issue to resolve.

Just run out to his vehicle flatten a tire and then walk away and let the store call police.

Try that in a Vermont Home Depot

I've always wanted to witness something like this at my local Lowes or Home Depot and while they are loading their loot just casually slit the tires on the opposite side.

My local Lowes manager, in South Louisiana, was fired because he tried to stop a thief from leaving store.

The stores started with the policy well before the DA's quit prosecuting... I understand it was a business decision on their part but they made the decision...

I worked loss prevention for Best Buy part time when I was 20, in the mid-90s, and the company policy was that we were not allowed in anyway to physically touch or obstruct the thief. I may or may not have violated that policy once or twice... We had an employee fired for standing in front of the guy so he couldn't leave the store and he grabbed him to prevent him from leaving before the cops showed up.
It was all because of fear of law suits. They had criminals sue them and they were worried about customers or employees getting hurt and suing them.

Plot twist... original OP was the cashier.

He needed those tools to replace all the broken ones from his independent small business where he's been so fervently working to rightfully pay his taxes and get ahead on child support to his 8 baby mamas...
In all honesty, he probably was just released without bail for stealing from somewhere else, stole the pickup you saw him in, and used it to go on another "shopping" spree.

Ask him to get me a new skill saw and grinder.

In what town did that happen?

H-town.
Believe it or not, in the 25 years I have been living here I have seen this happen at least 6-7 times.
The best incident was when a dred-locked, sagging pants individual ran out the door with a piece of electronics equipment at a Sam's Club. A Black employee yelled at him to stop and when he didn't, the employee ran after him, laid him out on the concrete, and proceeded to beat him senseless. There was blood all over the concrete.
I really enjoyed the show and complemented the employee on his performance. I told him I was friends with Mike Vrabel and could get him a tryout with the Texans.
