We firebombed Japanese and German civilians in terror attacks. and have justified them for decades.
I would understand Ukraine hitting Russian civilians to put pressure on them.

No, putting people into a crowd of random civilians and gunning them down at a concert is not the same thing. Plus, it would be the absolute dumbest possible thing imaginable to do from Ukraine's perspective. So if they did it, they are the dumbest MFers alive.

One involves a legitimate military purpose, and in almost all cases involved military targets, that simply had to occur at scale because of the limitations on precision bombing in that time.
The other has zero military purpose or intent and is solely meant to kill civilians for the purpose of killing civilians and inciting terror. Nothing about this attack degraded Russia’s ability to make war, nor was it designed to do so.

Speaking of Russian deaths I watched a fascinating video of objective assessments of Russian military deaths determined by leaks, graves, parents, friends of the soldiers.
The amazing stat was that 80% of the soldiers deployed in the invasion 2 years ago are no longer in the military.
They are either dead or injured beyond returning to service.
So, Russia is dealing with very young draftees on short training.
