Capitol Lounge, which is just steps from the Capitol, unveiled its lineup of $5 “shutdown cocktails” on Friday, complete with several tongue-in-cheek names poking fun at President Trump and lawmakers:

Carmine’s, in downtown Washington, is offering what it’s calling a “bittersweet beverage,” in the form of a $12 “Hard Times Cocktail.” The dejected-sounding drink is composed of Campari, bourbon, orange juice and thyme-infused simple syrup.
The Italian restaurant says its happy-hour bar and drink menu will be available all day, as long as the shutdown continues.

Also, any happy hour item ordered by those who show a government ID will get an extra meatball thrown in, on the house.
A slew of bars are also getting in on the shutdown discount action.
The Queen Vic and Granville Moore’s, both in Washington’s H Street Corridor, are offering 30 percent off drafts for federal workers during any shutdown.
Furloughed workers can also drink their sorrows away down the street at The Pug, which is giving a 30 percent discount, or Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar, which is serving up $5 rail and German tallboys for government employees.
Present a valid government ID at Lola’s Barracks Bar and Grill or any of the Capitol Hill restaurant group’s seven bars, and get the normal happy hour prices any time of day if a shutdown occurs.
The owner of Z-Burger at 4321 Wisconsin Ave. in Washington's Tenleytown neighborhood tells ITK that the eatery will offer any free single burger (cheeseburger, turkey burger, etc.) on Monday in the event of a shutdown to anyone who presents a government ID.
Furloughed workers can also satisfy their sweet tooth with 20 percent off during a shutdown at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt. LINK

When times are good, open a bar. When times are bad, open 2.

You are about to have a week off aren't you? And when they come back and give back pay it will be a paid week off, won't it? You bastard.

quote:Sheeeed man. I've been off on leave since Monday. Furloughs don't apply to military so I'll be back at work on Monday. And it's going to suck in varying degrees depending upon how many of the civilians the boss declares essential. If most of them go home, more suck for us. But yeah, the furloughed civilians are essentially getting deferred paid vacation.

quote:Visibility? Naw, there are probably thirty cameras or more on that at one time. But if you mean weather, it was clear skies at the time it was scrubbed, which was about 20 minutes before the launch window opened.
