I have visited New York several times as my niece is up there for School at St Johns. We stay in Flushing every time and love that area.

The problem with the north is that if you're a minority you're gonna be treated horrible.

I love living in Northwest Montana, I still can't get over how nice people are and how great life is here. Very pro gun here. Dems have to really dance the pro gun shuffle if they hope to get elected. Folks here really don't like the California migrants. Of course most can't handle the winters though and eventually move on.

Lived 40 years in Baton Rouge/New Orleans areas.

Do I miss spending fall Saturdays on campus sure, but I can't imagine living full time there again.

I love living in Northwest Montana,

Skylane,

I cant think about Montana without a story from years ago. Im a rep for SC Johnson standing at the backdoor of a grocery store outside Orlando waiting for it to open. The guy who drives the semi delivering goods for the wholesaler is waiting there is well, replete with cowboy boots, hat and big buckle, just humming to himself and tapping his feet. I said you are happy it Friday eh, he said, been waiting four years.

He said, you see my wife died young and its been me and my girl for several years. She wanted to be a nurse, makes great grades so I sent off all her stuff off and she got accepted to Rollins College. I was so excited, I shared the news with her and she had a fit, she was not leaving me, not leaving Montana, just a real fit. So I left and went drinking. Come home the next morning and she has my suitcases in the hallway and is cooking breakfast. I asked her whats up and she says well, if you are coming to Orlando with me I thought you might want to get a head start and find a place to live. She had already talked to my neighbor and he had agreed to take care of the ranch and the house, she had worked out a caretaker fee, everything.

So he said I came to Orlando and found this job driving this truck for the past four years to keep myself busy.

The reason Im so happy is tomorrow is graduation for my daughter. Im gonna be there, say a prayer to momma and say I did the best I could as I promised you I would, now Im done and Im heading back to Big Sky Montana right after the ceremony....you ever get near there give me a call and we will go have a few.

Skylane, if he was typical of folks from Montana, you are right they are some good people.

I live in NOVA myself. It's centrist. I am not sure why you would need relief from Arlington/Alexandria/Reston. All very safe and well to do places to live.

This is spot on.
As a moderate conservative surrounded by a liberal progressive community in Madison it does challenge you....which is great....however the hate from the left and the TDS can put your property and livelihood in jeopardy if you speak up too much in some cases.

It would be nice to have vocal support for the president but wearing a maga hat in town and putting a sign in your yard are just too dangerous with progressives. It's not worth the trouble.

The same is not as true for progressives living in conservative areas. I see Liz Warren and Bernie stickers occasionally around outside of Dane County. No problem. But a Maga hat inside of Madison? I personally have never witnessed one.

I like the Midwest for living though. Check that. I like Wisconsin. I would not really want to live anywhere else in the Midwest. I need to be near water. Coastline or fresh lakes.
