No, you have repeatedly told me what my religion preaches as if you know. You said I have told you exactly what my religious/spiritual leanings are through what I post and support on here "every day." Don't crawfish on it now. Tell me what my religious/spiritual leanings are. Or admit you're still just making shite up.

Well, some of us did spend time committing the sins of government.
I served, thankfully didn't have to do that.

Did you atone for it, or do you worship the death of another to do it for you?

His death does not save me from the sins I commit

Is your only commandment to say "Jesus is Lord" and to believe he died on the cross for your sins?
If so, you follow Paul.
If you believe you must keep the commandments and that it is up to you to fix your sins, then you follow Jesus.
I do not dine with Paul.

Answer the question. What are my religious/spiritual leanings? You have stated that you know multiple times in this thread even going so far as to say that I tell you what they are every day. Don't beat around the bush. Say it plainly.

Are you saying you reject Paul and his claims? And that you understand you must walk the path?

You are a follower of Paul, an anti-Christ/satanic religion.
I do not dine with Paul.

No, I am not. Not only are you completely fricking wrong, but you continue to be an antagonistic PoS towards those who are.

No need to. You've shown that you don't know or understand what the topic of this thread is, you have no intention of understanding it, and instead are simply using this thread as a platform to launch your hatred at people who hold a different worldview than you.
You've shown your arse bigly in this thread and are now just boring.

quote:It depends what you mean by "force". If I said we ought to go to having a singular state religion--say, protestant Christianity--would you say I'm trying to force my religion on others? From your outbursts here, I would assume so, but that's what the colony charters were saying.
Not a single state forced a religion on anyone.
Even so, I was merely demonstrating that your view of the 1st amendment was not what the pilgrims and puritans in the American colonies were thinking of before 1776.
quote:It went well beyond taxes.
You're talking about existing laws that had tax dollars that would support churches of said religion.
Catholics were explicitly or effectively excluded from protection/toleration in Massachusetts, New York, Georgia, and (informally) Virginia and the Carolinas. Non-Trinitarians were excluded in otherwise-tolerant Maryland and Rhode Island. Jews and other non-Christians were excluded from officeholding in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Non-Congregationalists/non-Anglicans were excluded from certain offices in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Carolinas. Rhode Island was the only colony that had no charter-based religious exclusion of any kind.
They weren't all the same, but if you were a Catholic or an atheist in the 1600's and 1700's, good luck trying to get into office in most of those colonies without lying about your beliefs.
quote:The Constitution and BoR originally only affected the way federal government was structured. The states were absolutely free to go about working however they wanted, including their religious tests for state/local office, and many did, with New Hampshire being the last one to remove all religious tests in 1877, almost 100 years after the ratification of the Constitution. It took decades for most of the states to remove their religious tests.
The states that had it did so before joining the union. Some didn't have it at all. Others dropped it upon joining the union, while others phased it out within a few years.
Also in order to get "Most" you are using 1776 as a date, rather than 1788 when the constitution was ratified. By 1787 only 6 of the 13 had the tax support. Many others within a year to 2 after.
By the time the 1st amendment was ratified, only 2 states were left.
But by all means, please continue to argue how Christians want to force their religion on people and why they need to be kept in check as a result.
So your claim that the country was founded on getting away from that mindset was absolutely false. The founders just didn't want that to determine federal rights or political expression.

Not ignoring anything.
It's the same fruits because Christians do not follow Jesus. I'm supposed to give you a free pass because you give lip service to the truth, way and light that is supposed to show it to you even though you freely admit it's not followed?
I can't do that.

The Christian religion is NOT about following Jesus.
It's about believing "Jesus is Lord" and that you are saved by him dying on the cross and your sins are washed away by his blood.
It's downright disgusting what Christians do with Jesus and in his name and it is not at all what he would do or support.
