‘Crusades Are Coming Back To The West’ - Raymond Ibrahim (@RaymondIbrahim5)
Historian Raymond Ibrahim joins me to discuss the resurgence of Crusader imagery and why the Knights Templar are becoming symbols for a new generation.
We discuss Islam, immigration, the failures of Western elites, and Raymond’s argument that modern historians fundamentally rewrote the story of the Crusades.

This episode of The Winston Marshall Show features historian Raymond Ibrahim discussing the resurgence of Crusader imagery in modern Western political discourse. The conversation explores how historical symbols like the Knights Templar and the concept of a "Crusade" are being re-appropriated by a new generation in response to contemporary anxieties surrounding Islam, immigration, and a perceived crisis of Western leadership.
Key Themes Discussed:
The Return of the Crusader Spirit: Ibrahim argues that the current use of Crusader symbols is an organic, grassroots reaction to the failure of Western elites to protect their borders and cultural identity (1:03-2:00).
Historical Context vs. Modern Misconceptions: Ibrahim contrasts the medieval Crusades—where leaders like Richard the Lionheart were actively involved on the front lines (51:20-52:17)—with modern Western leadership, which he characterizes as detached and, in some cases, actively facilitating demographic and societal changes (1:36-2:39).
The Knights Templar as Symbols: The discussion highlights why young men are increasingly drawn to military orders like the Templars and Hospitalers, framing them as models of sacrifice, duty, and protection in an era lacking traditional heroes (43:43-47:22).
Reclaiming Historical Narratives: The guest critques modern historiography for demonizing the Crusades as purely colonialist or materialistic projects, arguing instead that they were often rooted in altruistic, defensive goals to protect Christendom (16:29-17:40, 23:20-27:56).
Historical Overview of the Crusades (55:20 - 1:21:22):
Ibrahim provides a condensed chronological walkthrough of the nine major Crusades, emphasizing that these were often seen by contemporaries not as nine distinct wars, but as a continuous effort to secure the Holy Land and defend Christian populations against expansion.
First Crusade (1096): Described as a rare, major success where Crusaders captured Jerusalem (57:44-58:03).
Second Crusade: Notable for its failure in the Holy Land but partial success during the Reconquista in Portugal (59:23-1:01:05).
Third Crusade: Centered on Richard the Lionheart's military prowess and his treaty with Saladin (1:02:34-1:04:43).
Fourth to Eighth Crusades: The discussion covers the complex shifts in objectives, including the focus on Egypt to secure Jerusalem, the tragic sacking of Constantinople, and the efforts of leaders like King Edward Longshanks (1:06:01-1:18:00).

I'm not interested in supporting blood thirsty Christians who want to use government/state and power to "cleanse" the earth of those who disagree with them anymore than I am interested in supporting blood thirsty Muslims doing the same.
If you can't respect the religious freedom of others, then prepare to lose your own.

You should at least try to understand what is actually being said in the video before speaking on the subject. And I tend to agree with what you say, but this isn't what is being said.

The Franco-Ottoman Alliance
The Deal: King Francis I of France and Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent signed formal capitulations and an alliance in 1535–1536.
The Goal: Both leaders wanted to curb the immense power of Emperor Charles V of the Habsburg dynasty, whose lands surrounded France.
The Perks: France gained commercial trade monopolies in the Levant and protection for Catholics in the Ottoman Empire, while the Ottomans gained a western European partner to split Habsburg attention

I don't agree with the idea of the west waging another crusade, but it's pretty damn hard to argue against what this guy says when people like this are running for office and being elected.
Listen to what this shitbag says here and then revisit what the guy in the OP is saying about this stuff being necessary. He's correct. If our leaders are going to encourage this sort of shite then someone is going to have to do something about it whether people like it or not.

I'm not going to waste over an hour listening to that. I listened to the first few minutes and skimmed over the chapter titles.
I'm all for stopping immigration and only allowing people who want to assimilate in the country as a minimum requirement. And I hope the people over in Europe take their shite back.
But I have no use for Christian apologists.
Is there some kind of big important point I'm missing otherwise?

The guy's central thesis here is that we are seeing a rise in these themes and imagery due to a failure of leadership in the west more than anything else and that it is a necessary response to said failure of leadership. And he's absolutely correct. It is undeniable. I too have little patience for Christian apologists, but it's like I said in my previous post, when we are electing people whose stated goals are to import more immigrants with the sole purpose being to breed out the white race, you kinda have to accept the fact that eventually there is going to be pushback against that bullshite. And yes, it is necessary.

The 16th century occurred after the 13th century. So how did that arrangement work?

We’re so far from the kind of response he describes we likely never see it happen during any of our lifetimes.
If ever.
No one in any real numbers is willing to sacrifice any modern comforts and those will only continue to increase as the population gets more lazy and stupid with the further development of AI.

It seems to be more of a problem for Europe than the US at the moment. The US has essentially halted the immigration problem currently and is working to deport as many of the immigrants as they can. Sure, there is still work to do, but we aren't being overran like we were.
Will Europe stand up and fight back? They're starting to show signs that they will. Let's hope it isn't too late for them.

I see. The extremism is in response. I agree that is true.
These are the same reasons our actions in the middle east and Iran are dumb. It's the reason 1979 happened. It's the reason we get attacked.
Same shite, just in reverse. That is how they see us. Wanting to come in and take over their culture and force them to our culture. Killing people to make it happen, actively attacking them with multiple wars resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and demanding they have leaders that are acceptable to us.
And what happens? Well they embraced the most extreme around them.
It's always goign to be that way. We create the extremism, and the actions of invading them with immigrates create the extremism on the other side.
Have you considered that maybe it's done on purpose in both cases to produce those responses to begin with and/or is known and just not cared about because it can be used to justify an agenda/other actions?

I know it is. And that is why I often rail at people around here for not recognizing that they, just like the "muzzies", are being used as pawns by the true enemy. But that doesn't negate what this guy is saying. So long as we continue to have a failure of leadership, this is going to be a problem that persists and will have to be addressed.
The trick is waking enough people up to see that the man behind the curtain is the true enemy while also keeping the hordes at bay long enough to actually fix the shite. Hopefully that is what we are currently doing.

Extreme pendulum effect. Extreme external forces causes an extreme swing back to norm. The discussion is about crusades, but not neccessarily a crusade against Islam, but a crusade to protect Europe from illegal and foreign invaders. The bulk of those invaders just so happen to be Muslim, but that is secondary. I even see it here in Bosnia. There are a few Nepalese here. They were brought in by the corporations as a labor force. Like in America, they are undercutting wages of the locals. Locals do not like them nor do they want them here and are openly hostile to them.
Historically speaking, things are about to pop off bigley.

Good luck waking them up. Most are blind to the true forces behind this. We claim "globalistists" and "socialists". Of the two, globalism is the most true. The driving force is corporations, both for profit and non-profit. Both then lobby "democratically" elected officials and greese the palms. To fight it, one needs to realize they are fighting against crony capitalism and not socialism. One also has to realize the globalists are many times their own employer in an office in Houston, NY, Chicago or LA and not some shadowy dude at an economic forum in Europe.

Track CEO resignations.
Q
Folks have been on it for years. And the numbers are pretty interesting. High numbers of corporate CEO resignations during the years that Trump is in office. A lot of times things happen that are a big deal, but people don't see it as such because the names of the people stepping down, being arrested, etc. aren't the names people want to hear.

It's very easy to be against theology, politics, rights, etc. Look at all the purple haired Karens that are against any aspect of society.
It's much more difficult to espouse positive actions that lead to improving the general good.
what color is your hair?
