That's why I focus on homicides.

Lumumba hid the crime stats in Jackson. However, the one thing he could not hide was homicides.

There are two major studies from NYC in 1961 and Charlotte, NC in the early '90's where they studied every homicide in detail well beyond what the courts could allow. They found in both studies that 70% of the perps were known criminals and 71% of the victims were known criminals.

The most effective way to reduce homicide is to take criminals off of the streets.

This is opposite of the economic numbers. Numbers will be revised up later on.

Cities like New Orleans cook the numbers. They would not count someone who was shot and died at a hospital. They only counted people who died on the streets. That makes absolutely no sense.

Same as Covid. Someone is shot and dies but had Covid it was marked as Covid death.

Cime in DC is a hell of a lot better than it was in the 80's and 90's......It led the nation as the murder capital there for a few years. It has ghetto a.f. parts like Anacostia and the hoods next to Capital Hill

These threads are always fun.

We get to see what happens when emotional, pre-conceived views conflict with data. Let's see which people pick

That's not true at all. It's bout the crimes committed, not solved/charged.

And, as has been pointed out, it's REALLY hard to cover up a murder, let alone dozens of them every year.

bullshite! Reporting of crime has fallen. They’re under charging index crimes to falsely lower their crime rate.

Good, then you should have no problem with Trump cracking down on an already very safe Washington DC area, lol. Law enforcement will have very little work to do. Great for everyone.

They are. Democrat policies oversaturate the murder market so there's no place to go but down. Then the democrat defenders rush in and say, "See? Democrat policies aren't bad. Crime is going down."

The democrat defenders expect everyone to forget about the several years prior of rising crime. They also try to blame the previous rise in crime on circumstance instead of policy.

The democrat defenders also don't understand math. They think that crime increasing by 50% and then lowering 10% is a reduction in crime.

These threads are great because they let you know who the real simple minds are.

There was a post Covid spike everywhere

Crime had been falling for 25 years with these liberal policies in these cities prior to that, and falling at approx the same rate everywhere else with whatever other policies.

Partisanship has nothing to do with this discussion. It's basically been the same everywhere.

Crime started skyrocketing in the 70s and then cranked higher in the 80s, peaking in the mid 90s. We still don't know why that happened or why it's fallen so much.

Covid was an outlier-aberration with a short term spike but that self corrected

A D.C. police commander is under investigation for allegedly making changes to crime statistics in his district.

The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May. That happened just a week after Pulliam filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against an assistant chief and the police union accused the department of deliberately falsifying crime data, according to three law enforcement sources familiar with the complaint.

The union claims police supervisors in the department manipulate crime data to make it appear violent crime has fallen considerably compared to last year.
