Don't be silly. You would be a fool even if there were no establishment. It is the real you.

Well, this is the end result of the strategy the US has used for the last half decade

No Obamas strategy was to withdraw from the region that lead to ISIS.

THen Obama's strategy was to try to contain it and watch it grow.

Then he drew a red line in Syria that he did not follow through on.

Then with a year or two in his presidency on the run up to the next election the Democrats realized that they had to do something. So he finally at least started to push back against ISIS.

So this whole ISIS thing is due to Obama's regional policy failures.

Bullfrickingshit.

Stephanopoulos: "Some of your critics say, even your friendly critics say, like Fareed Zakaria, that what you have on the ground now is not going to be enough. Every couple of months you're going to be faced with the same choice of back down or double down."

Obama: "I think what is true is that this has always been a multiyear project precisely because the governance structures in the Sunni areas of Iraq are weak, and there are none in Syria. And we don't have ground forces there in sufficient numbers to simply march into Al-Raqqah in Syria and clean the whole place out. And as a consequence, we've always understood that our goal has to be militarily constraining ISIL's capabilities, cutting off their supply lines, cutting off their financing at the same time as we're putting a political track together in Syria and fortifying the best impulses in Baghdad so that we can, not just win militarily, but also win by improving governance."

Stephanopoulos: "And that's the strategy you've been following. But ISIS is gaining strength, aren't they?"

Obama: "Well, no, I don't think they're gaining strength. What is true is that from the start, our goal has been first to contain, and we have contained them. They have not gained ground in Iraq. And in Syria they'll come in, they'll leave. But you don't see this systematic march by ISIL across the terrain. What we have not yet been able to do is to completely decapitate their command and control structures. We've made some progress in trying to reduce the flow of foreign fighters."

Absolutely. Trump did well continuing and expanding the course of action recommended by his military braintrust. And yes, much of what we're seeing is the continuation of effort begun by the prior administration.

You fricking imbecile Obama was training, arming and financing ISIS through Jordan. Obama was never serious about defeating them because he was instrumental in creating them in the first place.

That would be a good strategy.

ISIS came about when The Bushies broke up Saddam's security state.

And it was predicted by Dick Cheney.

Obama trained, armed and financed ISIS in Jordan. That point is not debatable because it's a fact.

We invaded Iraq in 2003. Obama became president in 2009.

What happened in Iraq during those six years?

Here is a likely scenario.

Bush creates ISIS by wrecking Iraq. In his turn Obama funds ISIS in Syria.

Who is the big winner? Israel. And we foot the bill in blood and treasure.

So far, in its counterterrorism strategy, the Trump administration has continued the Obama administration’s preference for relying on airstrikes, special forces raids, and training and equipping local forces, rather than large, costly, and politically unpopular troop deployments. That trump stepped things up, and that probably had some effect on the fact that there are "hundreds" of fighters left?

Well, it that is true, then we just fricked up by committing over $300 billion in arms sales to the Grandaddy of all Jihadism - Saudi Arabia.

Trump is a Goddamn fool. What about that 911 report that the idiot savant is supposed to release?
