just delayed is all. So what's the problem? They are getting a deferred paid vacation.

The bigotry of low expectations left think these people can’t budget. That’s the whole concern troll by them

They always do.

They even get vacation restored if they take it during the shutdown

It ends up being taxpayer funded extended vacations

Their creditors aren’t concerned that they might receive back pay.

Still a significant cash flow issue if you're working paycheck to paycheck. They've already missed one payday and they're about to miss another. While a lot of families have plenty of savings, a lot of people would be pretty heavily inconvenienced missing two pay days in a row, especially which they're still working every day so they can't take another job. Obviously, in the long term, they all get square, but in the short term, it's a pain in the arse at minimum.

Well to be fair, we pay a bunch of them to do nothing anyway.

Bills. Expenses. Late fees. Strange that it is so obvious to most people but you can't figure it out

beyond PTO and sick leave they shouldn't. That's how it would work in the private sector.

They shouldn't. Only the ones like TSA and ICE/BPS who are working during the shutdown.

Yes. My friend works for NASA and has been furloughed before. He stays home does whatever he wants and gets his full pay as soon as work begins again. Of course he didn't do any actual work during the time he was off, but he gets paid anyway.

Mostly true. The ones I do feel bad for are the ones that just transferred to a new location and their moving expenses etc are being held up. All While they are still trying to sell their old home and close or rent somewhere new.

I travel quite a bit for long durations so I’ve got about $4k held up for reimbursement, but I’m fine. More bothered by the fact that I can’t invest it prior to the market recovering a bit.

They should learn from this and manage their money better in the future.

Also will say many of my friends are just picking up other jobs in the meantime so they are getting a paycheck and will still get their normal pay.
