Not only is it illegal, but the article offers a good example of how some 20-somethings have been indoctrinated since they were toddlers:

“Instructor Matthew Gavieta, a junior, explained that the BIPOC course was meant to help alleviate what he called ‘an issue of inaccessibility for minorities in this white-centric sport.’”

Another instructor, senior Michelle Croen, alleged that “‘it’s difficult to be a minority and feel welcomed in the outdoors,” citing issues including “cost of entry and accessibility [and] smaller microaggressions like the names of some outdoor climbing routes.’”

“‘Just under the surface, the climbing world especially is affected by racism, sexism and size-ism,” claimed Croen, who added that, “by creating a community of traditionally underrepresented people, we allow students to explore climbing and what it means to them on their own terms, in a comfortable, safe space.’”

Difficult to be a minority and be outdoors. Really? There is no help for these white libtards who believe this, just have to stop the indoctrination of kids.

I used to climb rock/ice while living in areas that allowed it. Never saw a minority while climbing traditional routes in the mountains. In discussions with minority persons, they viewed me as crazy for taking up the sport.

I can understand efforts to get them into climbing gyms to open opportunities. Banning whites is nothing but flagrant racism.

And this is pure unadulterated bull shite:
quote:

“‘Just under the surface, the climbing world especially is affected by racism, sexism and size-ism,” claimed Croen,

Women have been excelling in the sport for a long time. Look up Lynn Hill, her story and her first ascent on a difficult route up El Captain.

As a course at Cornell? Idk if this makes a lot of sense

But yeah, I can See where a lot of inner city POC don’t get the opportunity to get into rock climbing.

Yes, all the National Parks, State parks, National Forests and National Monuments all have "Whites Only" signs.

Come on man!

Two cracker INSTRUCTORS are busy bitching about this? As if somehow, magically, them teaching the course helps their argument.

Both of them need to be donkey punched.

It does cost a lot of money to go walk in the woods.

So the indigenous people who had ancestors literally living as cliff dwellers are underrepresented as rock climbers?

I'll buy the typical urban gang bangers but only because they don't really want to go rock climbing. Rock climbing is 99% tree huggers. To say they are not inclusive is pretty hilarious. I would sign up for that class just to piss off the teachers.

Most black people don’t live in an area conducive to enjoying the outdoors. Major cities are what’s wrong with the entire world.

You can buy literally EVERYTHING you need for a weekend camping trip for less than what most families spend on a monthly cell phone bill. Going outside, camping, and hiking is basically the cheapest form of recreation/entertainment that exists.

They do see nooses everywhere. It might explain why they don't tie their shoe laces.
