That picture pretty much ends this thread and any argument in support of the cop in Utah.

Not really. I support the cop. It gets tougher and tougher to do what is right because of judgmental pricks forcing their gay beliefs on everyone.

Good for the cop. Good for the cop!

Doing what is right is doing your job and protecting the population that you are paid to protect. Period.

Sometimes doing what is right is more important than doing your job.

Good job Mr. Cop

Listen, I don't particularly like the gay pride parades either. In fact, they're too fricking gay. But, regardless of my personal opinions, gays have a right to throw their gay arse parades. Cops swore an oath to serve and protect the public, like it or not the buttfrickers are part of the public.

I can't stand WBC, but they have the right to be idiots just like anyone else, and cops have to protect those pieces of shite too.

Obey your superiors or turn in your badge.

Those who believe this officer is out of line are clearly right.

Those who believe this officer has the right to pick and choose which assignments to take based on his personal beliefs and keep his job are clearly wrong.

Are military personnel employed by the government? So if the leader of a unit tells his unit to go into a village and kill every man, woman and child, a soldier wouldn't have a moral obligation not to do so?

I know this is an extreme example, but there are some situations where I would hope some wouldn't just follow the leader blindly.

And furthermore, if you were one taking part in the parade, wouldn't you want somebody that actually didn't have an objection to what you are doing be on watch?

Of course no one should blindly follow orders and Killing children is not part of a soldiers job. However, protecting citizens no matter what their religious, political, sexual, racial, etc.. orientation is part of a cops job.

You can surely disagree with orders and assignments, but don't expect to have your job if you don't want to protect the people you swore to....

And a moral objection to homosexuality isn't one of them. Cops swear oaths. Follow that oath, or turn in your badge. When you're wearing a badge, nobody cares what your opinions of gays are. It's incredibly narcissistic to swear an oath, break the oath, and expect to keep your job based on the expectation that the rest of the world should be ok with a cop refusing to do his job on a personal whim.

Irrelevant. It is not unusual for a policeman to have an assignment which calls for him to protect order in a group of people for whom he has significant personal contempt. It's part of the job. Hating gay people doesn't make this cop special. Do the job you've sworn to do, or turn in the badge.

I know you're trolling, but just to confirm, you're saying that cops aren't paid to protect gay people, right?

I wonder how this whole situation went down. Did he go thru the proper channels with his concerns or did he just not show. Any of you know the answer to that question?

Does it matter? What "proper channels" are there for "I refuse to do my job"?

He works for the government and cannot discriminate. He doesn't get to choose which citizens he feels are worthy of his services! frick his personal feelings or beliefs.

Would you feel the same way if a black cop refuses to work a KKK party?

Yes!

Or a Jewish cop refuses to work a nazi pride party?

How about an atheist cop who refuses to work a Christian fun raiser for the poor?

And yes but they are harder to represent visualy!

I haven't seen anybody get owned this bad on the PT board in a long time.

So, let me ask you this...if I'm a cop, and I refuse to save you from a mugging because you being a moron is against my beliefs, is that okay?
