Rog, I do agree with you to a degree.
He had actually been more spotty than many will admit during his career.
I believe he was leaned on during the Bubba years and maybe coerced somewhat to support Dubya RINO position of Open Borders and the Iraq War. For a while his opinion and influence AND focus on truth WAS softened.
As I also recall, he was too soft on both Poppy and Dubya as well; he also went along with the whole NAFTA deal and ridiculed the CORRECT positions of Ross Perot.
That said, when he was ON and dishing unfettered truth, Rush was an amazing analyst. I miss THAT.

He actually warned against W in 2004, however after W won, he went on to rationalize his election.
I don't think he was dishonest, I think he just preached to the choir too much.
His Clinton countdown was actually funny.

Totally disagree. Why?
If you split the media in Left vs Conservative, the Left's "news" is pure 100% weaponized bullsh*t & propaganda; It's Late Nite "comedians" catapult thinly veil the same exact bullsh* & propaganda AS "entertainment".
With what few conservative media outlets there are in Prime Time (Gutfield, Tucker) try to blend the two. Truthfully AND adeptly IMO.

Liberals control TV news and their ratings are horrible.
Liberals control late night comics and nobody laughs.
Liberals tried talk radio and it was a disaster. I tuned in to the Cuomo show. The best way to describe it:
