Only if not tied to policy designed to onshore manufacturing production jobs domestically

Stimuluses would have to be perpetual for it to work.

Offshoring certain low-skill jobs also serves to lower the prices of the goods or services the company is selling, making them accessible to more people who can use those cheaper goods or services to create different jobs…
This is another thing I have posted probably 30 times that gets ignored by the populists each and every time, but we already know that the Trump tariffs that have already been in place since 2017 have caused a net loss of American jobs.
That's not theory, that's history.
And the reason why is exactly what you just posted. Jobs, because they depend on money, are fungible. I don't know if that's the right term to apply there, but you get the point.
Great, you brought a million manufacturing jobs back to this country but because you did, the companies making those products had to raise prices and as a result lost 20% market share in the industry, so they had to downsize by 1.1 million jobs, collectively.
Insert any numbers you want to make them more real world, the point is the point.
That is what has already happened with the current Trump (now Trump-Biden) tariffs.

The new brand of conservatism that ignores basic economic principles is weird.
It's not conservatism, it's populism, and it ignores all principles, not just economic ones.
Don't take my word for it, ask around the board. The more hardcore populists will proudly announce that principles are for pussies.
There is only one principle that any populist follows: Us Vs. Them.
Whether that populist is a leftist populist a la BLM or ANTIFA or a rightest populist who rails against basic economic or foreign policy common sense, the only difference between the two groups is who each one considers "us" and who each one considers "them."
That's it.
There is no other consideration.

And here's a typical example:
That's populism.
Insectile, mindless, hive anger directed at "Them."
Ignoring everything else.
quote:
The insatiable greed of these people astounds me. These tightfisted hucksters are committing economic treason against the very nation that made them great...
Profiteering foreign slavery just like their greedy forefathers did in the US, but sell at inflated prices to hard working Americans, I hope Trump squeezes their margins so tight that their balls hurt.
That's populism.
Insectile, mindless, hive anger directed at "Them."
Ignoring everything else.

Are you suggesting we have all able bodied individuals working currently rather than allowing entire cities and regions to wallow on assistance?
Per BLS it’s at 62.5%, with wages driving people back to work relative to what they make sitting at home and increased scrutiny related to public assistance programs that could come up significantly.
For industries in which we simply can’t staff due to us disdain for those roles like meat processing or picking produce we can selectively allow for work visas.
I’m not in favor of work visas for white collar jobs in most cases.
