There are some entities that I actually trust less than the federal government. Comcast and AT&T are absolutely on that list, and together, they are the ISP for over half of America.

Yeah, there’s not a single person, group, or corporation that wants to frick you over more than the federal government.

Sure the government is incompetent, but there are people/organizations that want to frick you over more than they do. You’re a total idiot if you can’t see otherwise.

It’s hilarious to see so many trashing net neutrality despite having no idea what it is, what it does, that it has existed since the founding of the internet, or why the government was forced to regulate it in the first place. It’s hilarious to see some of you believing that we have a free market in ISP’s, believing that NN is the only barrier to entry in the ISP market, when it’s not a barrier at all! It’s a consumer safeguard that was a part of the founding architecture of the internet for good reason.

Those advocating for ending net neutrality are completely ignorant of the end they are fighting for.

And you’re willing to sacrifice it to Comcast. The government are a bunch of inept bureaucrats who couldn’t find their dicks to save their lives. Comcast is a bunch of rapid wolves though who want to tear you apart.

It wouldn’t shock me within the literal week of Net Neutrality being overturned they had commercials already shot about great new internet deals starting next year with social and video packaging all better than ever! Over access to 500 websites for only 59.99! And Tigerdroppings isn’t one of them unless both you and them shell out some extra cash...

This argument would have merit if we hadn’t already experienced what can happen when government involves itself to the point of control with a media source.

You don’t expect that the market would react and denounce this? Come on.

Yeah and that hasn’t happened in the past 25 years of internet. I can find hundreds of examples of Comcast pulling this shite. Want to meet me there with examples of Comcast pulling shite on the internet over the federal government?

Make no mistake, if you’re for overturning Net Neutrality, you’re not handing it over to the free market; you’re handing it to Comcast. Anyone who has remotely dealt with them will tell you that they are the worst organization on the planet. They consistently frick with grieving families demanding a death certificate to cancel the cable and to pay in the meantime, which death certificates can take up to six months to receive given your state. They have a lower approval rating than IRS. This needs to be stated repeatably. They are clearly nefarious and not to be trusted.

The argument would have merit if we hadn’t already seen comcast, Verizon, and AT&T, get caught red-handed back in 2014 doing exactly what we’re warning you they’ll do if left unchecked. They’re the reasons why the FCC was forced to step in in 2015!

When all the media providers are on the same page and a company as big as fricking Google can’t penetrate the market, then yes. You’re either ignorant, nefarious, or an idiot.

They can denounce it all they want but the options for most people to react are pretty limited.

Cox, AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, and AOL Time Warner provide ISP service for over 90% of the U.S. market. All are on the exact same page with net neutrality. This is anti-trust, this is cartel collusion, this is blatant crony capitalism run amuk that is being cheered on by “small government” conservatives. It’s sickening.

In case you’re wondering, I’m not a liberal. You can check my post history as I’m one of the most constitutional conservatives on this site. NN is one of the most important consumer protection laws that exists in this country because of the unique circumstances surrounding the internet, its content providers, its consumers, search engines, and ISP’s.

Net Neutrality rules have been in place for literally the entire history of the internet. The FCC only took it over in 2015 at the expressed demands of ICANN (the group formerlly in charge of regulating NN) because they didn’t have the backing of the legal system to bring Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon to heel for what they were doing. Since ISP’s operate across state lines, state governments didn’t have the proper police power to regulate it effectively either. That meant the FCC was the only competent body to do the job.

You’re right. I see it as a total free speech platform that is essential to function in the modern society. It should be a right, not a privilege unless you commit a crime serious enough for jail time. I think your critique of me is fair in that regard. And that is why I’m rabid about this subject.

it's becoming difficult to do basic things like pay bills without internet access.
