So the big bombshell is that Trump reimbursed Cohen.
According to Cohen.... but not the payments. They didnt add up.
So right back to the guy who is convicted and going to prison for lying to congress!

The Trump Organization reimbursed him in the form of bogus legal fees.
He wrote "legal fees" in the memo line of the checks he gave to his lawyer. That about sum it up?

The payments to Mr. Cohen were characterized by Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg as legal fees, but federal prosecutors have said the monthly invoices weren’t in connection with any legal services Mr. Cohen provided at that time. After the 2016 election, Mr. Weisselberg authorized a payment of double what Mr. Cohen had paid Ms. Clifford to cover related income taxes, as well as adding a $60,000 bonus, the Journal has previously reported.
You mean that?
He wrote checks to his lawyer. Called them legal fees. Gave him a bonus for doing a good job as a fixer. That be a big ole bombshell. I'm surprised that they haven't already ushered Trump onto a plane to fly him back here to stand trial for this treachery.

Read the article, fellow.
I did... and it is clear. The payment was marked.
Btw.... I always pay more on my electric and my water and my house.
That's common practice.
Your hope is that the American people will believe a convicted LIAR... a guy convicted for lying to Congress and the feds AND HIS EVIDENCE DOES NOT MATCH HIS STORY.
"Look guys... I know.. I know I lied. I know I'm going to prison for it. I know. But I promise that the memo on legal fees.. that's a mistake. I supr PROMISE I'm not lying... like Super not"

"No, really, I'm totes telling the truth. And, Adam, if you'll see me after this is over, I can get you that picture you were wanting."

The issue will be that they were unreported campaign expenses. Unlike for most laws, prosecutors have to show that you knowingly violated the law. Because Cohen and Trump got cited by the FEC in 2012 for the Trump Organization making illegal (civil, not criminal though) contributions to their "Should Trump Run" PAC, they'll be hard pressed to show they didn't know the law. Cohen says he acted at Trump's direction. The Feds apparently have testimony of Trump Org CFO Weisselberg and AMI staff who agreed before the campaign season to "catch and kill" negative stories for Trump. You have to wonder if they tried to take tax deductions on the bogus legal fees. Having your lawyer as your bagman provides lots of advantages - can write off your bribes and shield your involvement through attorney-client privilege.

Yet audio surreptitiously taken of trump has him saying any payoffs had to be on the up and up. Done.

Doc, do you think Clinton deserved impeachment in 98?
Posted on 2/26/19 at 8:38 pm to BBONDS25
We got the leaked tape, not everything else that went before the grand jury. Hearing ought to be quite a show tomorrow.
Posted on 2/26/19 at 8:40 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
He deserved censure at the very least. I think he deserved impeachment, but I think it was also politically foolish to impeach with such little likelihood that he'd be removed.

Yep. Surreptitiously taken. With trump saying it had to be legal.

Yet no indictment against trump.

I am confident no matter what it says this will be it.

No indictment, true. But I'm assuming DOJ is operating under the OLC opinion that a sitting president can't be indicted. There's no such policy against a company, though...

Do you believe campaign finance violations, given gop holds senate, should warrant impeachment?
Posted on 2/26/19 at 8:46 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
No. It would take more than that. We'd need a watergate-style suite of criminal culpability.

Psst! Weisselberg testified.

What law is that- FEC has never held these sorts of payments to be illegal campaign contributions or expenditures. Never a successful criminal prosecution.
Look at the test in the inverse doc- could he have used campaign contributions to pay off decades old skeletons? Answer is frick no. The debt did not arise BUT FOR his candidacy. Hell, most people thought his run was a publicity stunt to start a new media company with Ailes up until Nov. 9

I gotta tell you doc, my family and I still have a soft spot for dicky
My mom cried her eyes out watching his funeral
I am not kidding
We make it a family tradition to visit his home in San Clemente each year (only 20 min drive from my house)
