For the life of me I don't understand why they didn't just edit the article. Giving them 100% benefit of the doubt that 'reserving the right to dox' was a poorly phrased line why didn't they edit it immediately? The article dropped at like 9pm on a holiday. If they had reworded it the it is POSSIBLE that #CNNblackmail doesn't go as viral as it has. They could have easily gone in and edited to say 'we aren't identifying him because he is a private citizen' full stop and been done with it.
