China could take Taiwan if they laid waste to it but that’s pointless to them if they destroy it.
They can’t take it easily while trying to keep most of the infrastructure intact

Serious question...how would closing this little strait in Malaysia do so much damage to Chyna?
Edit...just saw your other post. Then took a better look at the map and I can see it now. It's like their Panama canal from further east asia like India and ME.

Taiwan or China owe US citizens nearly a trillion dollars in bonds bought 100 years ago to build their railway system. China says it was before their time, Taiwan says the railroads are in China.
So before we get all warm and fuzzy about taking what amounts to a world war to defend what China sees as theirs you might want to consider that.
Secondly, if Cali decided to leave the US, would we be upset if China endorsed it and started patrolling the waters off the coast? (No sarcasm about let them have it, etc). Serious question, would we react? Exactly,
Its none of our business, other than the fact we should have told TSMC we wanted 51 percent of the new plant they are building in the US

China will make one attempt and that’s it. Taiwan has a large number of loyalists paid for or otherwise and if their homeland is in chaos because of succumbing to OMB plays then to save face as the expression goes in the orient they will attempt.

Is Taiwan it's own country or a Chinese state?
I can see your argument if we were talking about Hong Kong, but just because China says Taiwan is a state, doesn't make it so.

Taiwanese, who are Chinese (for the most part), want NOTHING to do with China.

Now that Trump is in office, they know they can invade with impunity now

I dove into this topic a few months ago. This seems to be the objective opinion of people that know a lot more than me.
They could probably take it if they really wanted, but it would be self-defeating to do so.

“More than 80 percent of Taiwanese people want to maintain the status quo with China, with those preferring to keep Taiwan's current status indefinitely rising sharply, while those who want independence have been dropping since 2020, according to the results of a survey released on Friday.”
A recent poll shows 20% are in favor towards China. That’s a lot of sympathies working against you in rough times. There are government officials who have the same sympathy as well as I suspect large numbers of spies, considering how many are suspected in America I have no doubts. It’s been getting awfully aggressive as of late with concerns that this September timeframe could be a challenge for Taiwan

If China does attack, will Petey go on Fox and Friends describing our counterattack plans?

Load the chip machines on ships to the US and I won't care what happens to Taiwan.
Posted on 4/11/25 at 8:29 pm to trinidadtiger
Wtf are you talking about?? You threw out the comparison so trying to determine what your thoughts were. Cause if you believe Taiwan is it’s own sovereign nation, which I do, then your comparison example is asinine.

China is much more likely to invade Myanmar/Burma than Taiwan as it gives them a port on the Indian Ocean that they've already built highways and rail to and would support their foray into Africa
They're going out of their way to broadcast that they're preparing to invade Taiwan
