Me thinks he can't NOT have one of the two (China, EU) at the table based on if both are non-negotiating they will strengthen trade between them (basically China will sell surplus abandoned due our tariffs to EU) where possible thereby nullifying the pain of our tariffs and weakening our leverage.

If one of the two is at the table and gets a deal, the other won't have that outlet (in case of China) or supply (in case of EU) to lessen the pain of our tariffs.

The Achilles heal of this plan has always been side deals between the major players.

China really tripped over their own nuts here. Bessent and Trump both told the world: do not retaliate.

China just committed a massively expensive FAFO mistake.

I saw where Kevin O’Leary wants Trump to increase tariffs on China to 400%. He said they are boxed in by every border country of theirs that are in trade negotiations with the USA. They are screwed, and Trump now has even more cards.
