Very misleading headline.
We are one month into the year, so yeah - it is 0 right now but that does not even come close to meaning we have lost $12.6 billion.
What sems informative as well is that prices are roughly in step with where they were in the fall of last year.

Deltaland you need to read a little before posting. China has us by the short hairs regarding rare earth metals processing.

But hey, lets worry about pig feed versus the fact no electronic device in the US will be sold or repaired..............

We shouldn’t be feeding China anyway.

soybean prices are determined on the commodities futures market. It doesn't matter where they come from, they all trade at the same prices.

I wasn't sure how they do that but I was picking up a super sack of deer corn for the camp and he was steady picking beans. An 18 wheeler full of beans rolled by headed to the elevator. He said they would likely hold them to January to sell then. I didn't know enough to probe what he was saying.

China can’t feed its people and if they want to buy food for their people, they need to sell goods they manufacture. I can assure you Brazil and Argentina aren’t gonna keep the lights on with trade.
No

This bears repeating.

The farmer that leases some of our land switched a few years ago to roasting the soybeans and selling them in bulk to hunters.

He grows corn, cotton and soybeans. He told me last fall that he made almost as much from the beans to hunters than the other crops (by weight), without having to haul them more than a few miles. Hunters couldnt get enough of them. He sells in 50# bags and super sacks.

If you roast the soybeans they can be used in feeders without spoiling and clogging up everything like a green bean will do.

US, Brazilian, and Argentinian futures are separate entities. Right now US futures slightly lag the others in pricepoint. But obviously they are heavily interrelated.
