He's someone Trumpkins would be yelling at to shut up about politics and stick to singing if he wasn't one of them.

The bigger issue more me is that ever since Joe McCarthy in the 1950's (and likely before that) and Watergate in the 1970's the justice system has been used by both sides a a political weapon.

Since watergate, only Carter has really be immune to justice department inquiries and even he had to deal with the DOJ investigating his brother.

Nixon - Watergate
Ford -
Carter - Billy Carter investigation
Reagan - Iran Contra
George H.W. Bush - Iran Contra
Bill Clinton - Impeachment for lying under oath
George W. Bush - "Yellowcake" forgery ("fabrication of "data" in lead up to gulf war II)
Obama - Clinton E-mail scandal and 2013 IRS directed audits.
Trump - special council Robert Muller investigation.

I like it that our justice department doesn't grant immunity to the sitting President. I see that as a positive. Some may believe differently.

I agree 100%, but that really wasn't my point.

My point was is that no matter who's in office, the other side finds some dirt on them to de-legitimize their presidency. I'm no sure that's justice or just dirty pool.

The United States DOJ, in coordination with the FBI, has done more to erode individual freedoms in this country in the past 30 years than almost any other entity. Regardless of party, I'll never understand how people can unflinchingly trust a group of people who treat the lives and freedoms of their fellow citizens as a game meant to be won.

I agree with you and that's why I made the previous post about the 4th and 14th amendment. It seems as if law enforcement and the courts have transitioned from "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" to "everyone is guilty of something and we just need to find out what it is."

IMHO, it's because of the monetization of the justice system with the ultimate goal being not public safety but revenue generation.

Well Al Capone went to prison for tax evasion not violating the Volstead Act. They don’t care what charge they get someone on but just getting them on something.

Apples to oranges, imo. After all, Al Capone was a well known, much feared, violent, murdering criminal. What did Trump do to warrant the "We HAVE to get him on something!!" shtick?

You need to be more subtle if you expect to sell that "I'm a conservative, but...." shtick.

I have no animosity toward Charlie Daniels and no confidence the raid on Cohen's office was justified (yet), but why are we looking to Charlie Daniels for guidance when he clearly doesn't even understand the concept of a special counsel referral

Charlie is not exactly a brilliant mind so he just keep playing his fiddle.

The scope of the special counsel includes the statement "and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation". Hey, it's just like Lewinsky had nothing to do with Whitewater.

Any evidence of any other wrongdoing is game if found during the investigation.

Keep screaming but don't worry, your boy is safe. Mitch and Paul have his back.
