Changing the Constitution to implement term limits is an admission you can’t win on ideas

Each election Americans vote for who they want in office. If you don’t like how they are voting you can either:

1- Convince them to vote differently by demonstrating that your philosophy is better
Or
2 - Make it illegal for them to vote a certain way because you are unable to convince them

I vote against incumbents, or don’t vote. I encourage you to do the same.

I am a liberal Democrat and I have always favored term limits for members of Congress. 24 years max number you could serve in Congress and that would include a cumulative total of both houses.

being in power corrupts people. Being in power gives an advantage to remaining in power. Term limit adds some restraint.

Absolutes are stupid and usually wrong unless you are God (Yah). (the thread title is an incorrect, naive absolute)

FIFY

Besides, how is anyone going to muster enough support to ratify an amendment when most voters are willingly voting their incumbents in year after year? For example does anyone think the voters of Kentucky want to give up their Senate Majority leader by voting for an amendment that would remove him from office?

Talk about naïveté.

The term limit proponents haven’t done enough to convince people to vote for Congressional turnover.

Founding Fathers didnt know about gerrymandering and cant lose/zero accountability districts. Nowadays, the most powerful legislators can only be challenged by a more extreme partisan.
We fricked.

That's rich coming from the party who has perfected the act of making it more difficult for those who don't agree with them to vote.

unconstitutional voter ID laws
Reducing polling locations in areas with increased minority populations
Perfecting the art of gerrymandering

Why are leftists so deft at organizing protest mobs at a moment's notice, but so bad at getting their lazy asses out of bed to a voting booth in their own district?

If 8 years is enough for the POTUS then 12 years should be plenty for Congress. Purging the Swamp on a regular basis makes the politician and lobbyist relationships more difficult to maintain and that’s a good thing,

Convicted felons are not allowed to vote.

this is something I've agreed with in the past.

However, I'm coming around to the reality that D.C. is a disease. And, very few, even those who are good people, can withstand it. These people eventually accept that D.C. is the norm, and that the people just don't get it.

No they aren't.

Term limits are an admission that power corrupts and absolutely power corrupts absolutely.

...and as far as voting "against incumbents", not this time. That will merely give us a democrat majority in the house and senate.

This is a time to vote straight ticket GOP.

Your analysis ignores the legitimate negatives found in democracy and the entire reason why Republics are superior forms of government.

And we have another one who favors voter fraud.

Fewer stops for each bus to make. The riders can all get home a little earlier after a hard day of voting.

No, that’s about as long as a career for a lot of people.

You get 12 years, and you aren’t allowed to be a lobbyist for another 12 after that.

I don't support term limits because I don't think they solve the problem they are stated to solve. In fact I think they make that problem worse
