You are okay with using police force against people who seek attention

Sorry, but this is not a hill to die on. We have fire codes that prevent overcrowding in the name of public safety.

How is this different

Of course. A few days ago, someone went ahead and held a kid's birthday party at their house in my neighborhood.

One of the neighbors asked on Facebook if they should call the police to break it up!

Yeah, people willingly giving up their civil rights unchecked and neighbors calling to report on other neighbor's activities...

Never thought I would see it but here we are...

Like I said in my post.....

We have people seriously wondering if they should call the cops on a birthday party being held at their neighbor's house

Americans are some totalitarian mofos if you let them.

It's funny because even as a kid in school, when people would ask about "why citizens reported on each other" in places like the USSR or Nazi Germany...…...the answer was always, "fear".

Even then, I knew it was Bull shite.

CITIZENS LIKE reporting on each other. Hell, just look at Twitter mobs.

If they believed that this was so bad... all the medical people should be in strict quarantine. Let me get this right, these people are in dirty infected hospitals all day, working with infected equipment, and infected patients.... and they go home to their families and to the store?

it is why many of us live in areas with home owners associations. I always love knowing that my neighbor is out measuring how tall my grass is.

We have fire codes that limit the congestion of people in a public building, ostensibly for public safety.

We have "stay at home" orders and other restriction in place to limit congestion in public places, ostensibly for public safety.

I'm not saying I agree with what happened. I am asking what the difference is between the two.

I'm open to a legal argument here, but "that is stupid" is not adding to that.

I was wrong.

How many Republican Governors have issued Shelter at Home orders and closed non-essential businesses? Is that not Totalitarianism? If these people stayed to themselves on some compound, I would not care, but when they start infecting others with a virus, it becomes a public issue.

Uh huh

And this my friends, is how one justifies totalitarianism. "Well, this VERY oblique example uses the same phrase.....so ALL versions are OK!!!!"

I'm not saying I agree with what happened. I am asking what the difference is between the two.
Well, for one. Fire codes are actually established in law. It ain't no accident than none of the Emergency declarations are.

But, beyond that. It's just a GROSS over simplification to equate the two. I mean hell. If you're going to equate the two, then, yeah, the police should also be able to arrest me for having 11 people at my frickin house.

I mean. Ya know. PUBLIC SAFETY!!!!

No, the fact that he is endangering the health and safety of his community means the government CAN use their police power to stop him.

Yeah, pretty much.
