It’s not that people weren’t dying. It’s that we changed how we accounted for cause of death differently than we ever had before.
I’m suspicious of the 400k excess death numbers as it appears to me that people are just adding Covid deaths to projected deaths when announcing them as “preliminary numbers.”

These are the numbers. They goofed with comorbidity/cause but the total number of deaths was up 300-400k. We can hate the politics without being ignorant.

It's fricked up that gateway fricking pundit is the only media entity at least trying to do research. Even if they're wrong a lot. What does gwp have? Like a $20 budget?
Meanwhile, these huge billion dollar news outlets refuse to ask questions or research anything. They just march in lockstep and spew the exact same narratives. All narratives imply that we should all blindly believe and have faith in the establishment and never ask questions.

Many reference the 300k excess fatalities. Again the argument remains we didn't save anybody with economic sanctions and the fallout will be much worse than a 10-15% death rate increase YoY without even considering future non-covid deaths caused by high unemployment and education gaps etc...

I won’t dispute the numbers (400,000 more deaths in 2020).
My question is, how many of those are directly tied to policy decisions.
For example, how many people were not allowed to get treatments (or saw their treatment delayed) that would have ordinarily kept them alive (cancer etc.). How many people have committed suicide as a result of the stress associated with the crippling debt tied to economic shutdowns. Then there are the deaths associated with decisions based in political incompetence (or criminal intent such as those attacking Trump ”by any means necessary “)...hello Cuomo and pals. I mean, that may make up the 400,000 additional deaths tallied in 2020.
In short, Covid, while real, certainly seems to have been overblown. Additionally, the CDC directed response certainly seems to have been tied to removing Trump from office imho.

Old people dying a few months or a year sooner is not as big a cost as young people dying.
The metric for everything should be person-years, like actuaries do.
