Yeah yeah and cost of goods and services will remain the same! Your dreaming! Raising the minimum wage will put more people in poverty. I don’t understand how you don’t see that!

He thinks that people will do what’s good for others over themselves.
It’s quite the fallacy. They think people will just, reject their base human nature for the “greater good”. It’s weird. Of course, the sociopaths in charge of the stupid sheep know what they’re doing which is why you have life long politicians like joe Biden who simply enrich their families while “saying” they’re for the common man.
It’s fricking hilarious.

Here is another real world example of how this hurts...we own a perfectly modest rental next to a college in South Carolina. If this happens we will immediate raise the rent to ensure minimum wage/$15 dollar an hour people can't afford to live there.
That only hurts the current & future renter and takes money out of their pocket.
We aren't buying a new Rolex with that extra 78 bucks a month..it won't make us rich , only hurt the renter.

There are pros and cons to raising it, it’s not a black and white issue. I’m for raising it, a lot of you are against it. That’s fine, we can disagree. There’s no need for that one poster to act like such a psycho and tell me to kill myself over a difference of opinion though. It’s sad that stuff like that passes for discourse around here.

Stonehog,
How would honestly, in your heart of hearts, respond to this letter from your landlord-->
Due to the increase in minimum wage , rent will increase in proportion ( something you can't afford ) to $X / month. You have 30 days to move your family if you can't show your ability to pay the new rent with your current W-2.
Give us a real world answer of what that would do to you & your stable living situation?

No, it is a black and white issue. It affects mostly young people by unemploying them - it has a history of destroying the black youth community, and hurts small businesses.
It's all bad. Only someone who has never taken an econ course would spout that bs.

Biteme,
You are 100% right. Using my real world rental example. Winthrop University has a lab type elementary school that my renters can send their kids to.
We provide a great , safe, well maintained place for them to live and they can attend the best school in Rock Hill. They can lose that in one quick second.

My nephew has a bookstore, trying to fully transition it to old and collectible books. Him and his wife work a ton of hours to make it go, has four college students working for him. 11 bucks an hour and helps them get there books at a substantial discount.
He says he will have to let at least one go or reduce the hours on all four and his wife go back to her old job to keep this thing afloat.

Oh come on. You don’t think that was a fair and “balanced” article? It comes from balance! So you know it’s fair and balanced!
