quote:
No. I’m saying that conversion results in changed lives where faith results in action. I very much respect and agree with you placing Jesus Christ preeminent. God Almighty. Prophet. High Priest. King of Kings. Sacrificial Lamb. It is him and him and him only In which my hope for salvation rests. Nothing else. My so called righteous acts invoked to make way for me in heaven are but menstrual rags per Isiah. Like the old song says, Nothing but the blood of Jesus…
I provided scripture that says believing in Jesus saves from all things that the law can't and you think that I could be promoting licentiousness? Scripture says what it says. We can't not use scripture because we don't like the way it comes across or how someone may take it.
Sure a born again person's life will change, but who is the judge of how much? You? Me? No, God alone knows who belongs to him. When a person is born again, the spirit of God comes to dwell within him. The spirit leads this person to live a godly life. Christians still sin and some can fall into some really bad sins. But God is faithful and he will make that believer absolutely miserable in their sin until they repent.
On James, there is much debate about James and the faith+works passages. The entire rest of the bible says that faith is all that is required and if we believe scripture is the inspired word of God, which I do, then James has to be talking about something else. James is talking about the profitability of our faith to others. Our works are what prove our faith to other men because men can't see our faith absent our works. Titus 3:8 carries this same idea:
"This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men."
Good works are profitable for others but they can't save us. We are right before God because of our faith in his son.

Looks like someone is trying to tow the company line so they are not sent to be the cardinal of Antarctica.

Seems we should all be very careful, thoughtful and prayerful before criticizing each other, including the vicar. Some of the issues on Christianity and peace are much more complicated than what is happening today or on any day. As a whole our country has done much to serve the poor of the world and worked to secure peace in wars and at times that no peace appeared forthcoming for people of foreign lands. May God bless the peace makers. May God bless our country and our President.
