Because most MAGA are incredibly stupid and insecure and like Trump think that being a bully to a country you asked to by their goods from is screwing you even though they sell to you at below market is a good idea just because we can.
The arrangement with Canada has worked well for both countries since the mid 1960's and up until this February no one complained about

Canada is arguably the leading force for the evil Globalist movement right now. Even more so than Europe.
Carney deserves some blame for the decline and possible fall of Canada, but 90% of the blame goes to Fidel Trudeau. Trudeau is cut out of the same mold as Macron, Tony Blair, and the Bush family cabal.

Carney is worse than Trudeau, you just haven't been paying attention to him for as long. As for Canada, it's an oil (and other resources) rich nation with a weak military. If they want to retain their freedom, they'd do well to understand that, like it or not, they owe a big debt to the US. Without US military protection they'd be a ripe plum waiting to be plucked by some ruthless global power that desires their natural resources. If their leaders decided to cast their lot with Europe, it won't take rank and file Canadians long to realize their mistake.

...not to mention the fact that the Canada had the highest per-capita casualty rate among coalition members in Afghanistan, including fighting in Kandahar in relief of US troops.
