And if that was true we would have two pilots in custody who know where he was dropped off and could give good descriptions of him. That would be the height of stupidity.

You had me thinking on that one. He was VP candidate with Kerry in '04. Lost bigly to W, but then I had forgotten he ran again in '08. Even without the scandal, I doubt he'd have defeated Hillary or Barack. But yeah.

The transponder was not turned off. The FAA data is blocked on flightaware.com and flightradar24.com at the owner's request. The data on flightradar24.com comes from hobbyist's ADS-B receivers uploading the data to flightradar24. Many rural areas do not have even one hobbyist to upload the data so it is missing in many areas at lower altitudes.
