You forgot the part where Minneapolis institutes massive taxes on its citizens and business to reconstitute the police department.
Believe it or not this same thing happened in New Iberia. 25 years ago they ended the police department to break the union, to save money (Sheriff said he would do it for less), and because they could no longer afford the insurance and retirement benefits due to the massive amounts of lawsuits against the department (all deserved) and lots of retirees. Fast forward 25 years and the black community, who first pushed for the dismantling, was begging for it to be reconstituted because they now hated the Sheriff and felt they had no local authorities to deal with regarding their community. So now we have the same police force we had 25 years ago, but we are paying an additional .5 cent sales tax for it. Break it to re make it.

I was thinking of that very example. And after Ackal had been neutered by the FBI & civil litigation, crime skyrocketed and the folks in the poor communities were on board for the resurrection of the NIPD.

Already happened. 46 retired, 14 quit. This was 3 days ago. I'm sure more have quit since then.

Impossible to say without a definitive plan. I'd like to see what they have in mind. However, given the current leadership, I'm expecting a clownshow.
