addition of zinc to hcq and z is beneficial

According to this paper, adding zinc to hcq and zithromax decreased the need for ventilation and death, though didn't help people who were there already.

Seen lots of papers for and against.

I think these drugs as many viral drugs are most effective or perhaps I should say are effective given earlier in the course of illness.

Most get better by themselves. Of those that don't some need to go to hospital, some need ICU, some need ventilation and some need death.

So when we are looking at early, it would have to be a large study to find significant difference because so many get better by themselves.

However this study was in hospitalized patients and found benefit to hcq and z plus zinc compared to just hcq and zithromax.

Interesting study.

Unfortunately, docs aren’t blown away with it.

I have a friend who is a pulmonologist on the front lines. He says they’re not seeing any positive effects by administration of HCQ and azithromycin.

Understandable, however, like with malaria patients, isn't it used as more of a preventative, early-stage treatment to help keep it from worsening into a critical care situation?

Of those types of patients, how do you quantify that the HCQ therapy works if it's a natural reaction by the body to fight off the disease? Put it this way, if I were to have symptoms starting today, and went to get tested and came away as positive, would it be a bad idea or good idea to start this therapy? Is there an alternative?

For me at this point, I would be trying to get Remdesivir as early as possible. It’s mechanism of action makes more sense at it is knocking
down the production of virus,

Yes, Fauci may have a conflict of interest.

I want to see a large study of Remdesivir with Plaquenil......early on during the course of the disease. Remdesivir would knock down some viral load and Plaquenil to possibly help with cytokine storm,

We've used it early and often, including with zinc, and some have worsened and some have not. It does not appear to stand out. We were excited for it, but don't notice a difference.
