Doesn't China own a shite ton of our debt.

I think it’s about 15%. They’re second behind Japan for foreign entities.

Looks like they are just going to do a good bit of tax cuts instead of paying the debt.

Tax the money being sent back to home countries by foreigners.

No and it wouldn’t be desirable to eliminate it entirely. If we can just reduce waste and balance the budget every year, that’s a good start. It definitely needs to not be 133% of GDP or whatever crazy number it is now though

I’d sure like to see. Just need Democrats and federal judges to get out of the way.

You would need to hit entitlements to make any meaningful impact. The USAID and federal workforce might hit $100b per year in savings, which is great, but the COVID expansion of entitlements added hundreds of billions. Just paring that back would be huge.

Being able to lower interest rates would save on debt servicing.

Privatizing student loans would be a good amount too. Remember that Obama claimed this as government savings to fund Obamacare, then politicians realized they could buy votes with it…

Any of the above would be huge but there would be crying in the streets via the media and even some on this site.

DOGE is just showing where the money goes. The rest is up to the voters and those they elect.

The US national debt at the end of fiscal year 2000 was $5,674 billion

As of November 2024, the U.S. national debt was $36 trillion,

TRILLION. These thrives have stolen "at will".

I'd be happy if they got it down to 30-40% of GDP:

Has DOGE found the 20 million wasted Sunday on Donnie’s Superbowl trip yet?

It can be done but with major spending cuts but nobody has the politcal capital to do it. Not even Trump has it. If a group/individual was getting subsidies they will just mobilize and vote the person doing the spending cuts out. When folks get used to preferential treatment, equal treatment seems like discrimination.

The thing about it is that it's not Doge's job to eliminate debt, it's the job if our elected folks in Congress. We the people must start electing better representation in the federal government.
DOGE is providing a great start and will point the DOJ in the directions to investigate, but we must demand better performance from those we elected to manage and administrate our tax dollars!!

Entitlements are off the table per Trump. Not sure how you get a $1T without that.

But hey, every bit helps.

Even if they are extrapolating the numbers out over a number of years, it's possible on the public numbers DOGE is providing.

Doge has already succeeded. They have exposed the liberals for being a bunch of cuck bitches that would rather take your money and spend it on stupid shite and other nations rather than things that actually help American people.

Majority of Americans have already known this, but it’s on full display now. Every liberal anyone ever comes across from now on should be laughed at and never taken serious. They add nothing positive to this country. They are a disgrace to this country and the American people.

Unless they can buy back all of the Treasury bonds for pennies on the dollar, no.
