I wonder if any African slaves sold to the US were, at some point in the past, slavers themselves. Maybe the 5 giga-trillion owed them should be passed on to the families they sold into slavery?

Absolutely incorrect. I have traced my lineage back to the 1600’s and not one ancestor was connected to slavery in any way. To the contrary, my ancestry is proven to be sharecroppers who worked side by side with other sharecroppers of several ethnicities.

you do know Kunte Kinte and Roots was 100% a work of fiction?
why aren't the tribes in African that first took the "slaves" as slaves and sold them to slave traders not on the hook for financial reparations?
have you ever done a thorough root cause analysis?

Or... as stated before, job training or education. Something to better themselves. Something that will allow them to better themselves. Giving people money they didn't earn is a horrible idea, terrible. Those receiving the money that never had money or learned the value of money its a huge disservice.
That's not even mentioning how unfair and bat shite crazy it is taking tax money from people that had nothing to do with slavery and giving it to people who also didn't have anything to do with slavery. This country is losing it collective mind.

They’ll eventually do this and I think one day veterans will be stripped of their benefits to accommodate those who literally leach, steal, destroy and kill.

Of course none of it makes sense. The sad part is a shitload of black people in that state actually think it's going to happen.
And those same people should get into Harvard according to the skyscreamers today
But they still won't be able to vote since they don't know how/where to get a valid ID...coupled with the rampant voter suppression inflicted upon them.

You mean like they did in South Africa and Zimbabwe? Because that turned out so well...

Yet nobody told them to use them. Same goes to the poor white trash meth heads all over the south and Midwest.
Nobody forced drugs down their throats, needles up their arms, or smoke into their lungs. People need to own the consequences of their actions. I have very little sympathy for people who have no self control and decided to take a street drug that they knew was highly addictive.
(Of course there are exemptions...like people who were prescribed opioids during their initial commercial release)

Slavery was never legal in California, but reparations?

that is literally what affirmative action and minority scholarships were. that was the reparations. given preferential treatment for job opportunities and free college was the governments way of paying back without actually giving away money. but like a lot of things, eventually it's "not enough" and more is demanded.

decades of overpolicing, disproportionate incarceration, said Lisa Holder
Uh, well move to Portland I guess, they have no police anymore.
California residents are gonna love paying redress for "disproportionate incarceration" as if incarceration has nothing to do with disproportionate breaking the law.
Lisa is also a recognized racial justice scholar and equity consultant
Shite, forget the law, give her a congregation. So, she's a race hustler who gets paid by companies to consult regarding race issues, she creates?
Sounds familiar...

What makes a person “black”? Is it the same thing that makes a man a woman in San Francisco? Just wake up one morning thinking you are one?

Go study history. All civilizations and cultures have had a turn at being slaves. The Greeks gave us democracy and they became slaves to the Roman Empire.
The Roman empire fell and parts of its empire became slaves.
In the course of his Gallic Wars, Julius Caesar invaded Britain twice: in 55 and 54 BC.
Caesar eventually penetrated into Middlesex and crossed the Thames, forcing the British warlord Cassivellaunus to surrender as a tributary to Rome and setting up Mandubracius of the Trinovantes as client king.
The 1600's lineage made me laugh. I'm looking at the big picture of all mankind.
The Egyptians enslaved the Jews.
Vikings attacked and conquered and disseminated their enslaving bloodline to Britain and the surrounding territories.
Britannia had tree worshipping rock circle tribes killing and enslaving each other.
African tribes historically killed and enslaved each other as well as the Native American Indians.
The point is, no one owes anyone for what is a bloody, violent, killing, and enslaving world history.
Everyone has the mark of Cain. Study history and learn from it. A modern society should not have slavery. Anyone tracing back slave lineage and wanted money needs to get in line with everyone.
