California Requires Proof Of Gayness To Get Utility Contracts But Not Proof Of ID To Vote

California businesses have to go through a “gay-certification” process to receive special contracts meant for gay-owned companies, Christopher Rufo of City Journal reported Tuesday. If these business owners fail to sufficiently prove their claimed gayness, they may face up to a year in jail, while California’s vetting process for voters is practically nonexistent.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) sets regulations for private utility companies and now pressures them to hire contractors, such as engineering firms, infrastructure companies, and fuel suppliers, who are owned by individuals who identify as LGBT, Rufo reported. CPUC’s “Supplier Diversity Program” works to “include diverse firms” in the organizations that receive utility company contracts. Former Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation in 2014 that expanded the definition of “diverse firms” to include businesses that are LGBT-owned, making them eligible for supplier-diversity benefits.

In order for businesses to receive these contracts, they must submit documentation that proves the qualifying owners’ LGBT status. Applicants can pick from a checklist of 13 options for how to prove their gay or transgender identity. Accepted documents include reference letters that can vouch for someone’s status as LGBT, joint living agreements that include a same-sex partner, or media coverage that states the person’s status as LGBT.

Will you have to wear a patch or just have papers?

I had heard one option is showing a California Official that you have made at least 10 posts on a soccer board (outside of a World Cup).

How is that legal?

The government can discriminate on the basis of immutable characteristics?

Like, officially?

I know that black women get hired for government jobs, but I didn't know that that was an official, publicly known policy. I thought they just did it.

How is it legal?

I couldn't do that. I couldn't open a business and announce that I was only going to work with vendors who were all white or all black or all gay or all straight.

How can they do it?

Yeah. I know guys who put their company in their wives name so it can be women owned and get preferential treatment in bids. One got him and his wife tested for native dna. The more minorities you can stack the better. Some it just means if all else equal you win, but I’ve heard of some where qualified minority companies can actually not be the cheapest if within certain thresholds to be selected. It just depends on the agency and their internal rules.

I asked Chat GPT how it was legal and this was the reply:

quote:

The government can legally stipulate procurement preferences specifically for gay or lesbian contractors (commonly certified as LGBTQ-Owned Business Enterprises or LGBTBEs) by satisfying constitutional standards that are slightly different from those governing race or gender. While the general framework of equal protection still applies, sexual orientation sits in a unique constitutional tier, allowing state, local, and federal entities distinct pathways to establish these programs.

It claims that it's much harder to do it based on race and/or gender.

It's insane to me how insulting these people are of our intelligence. To the point where I put overlapping tin foil hats on and dig myself into a rabbit hole of conspiracy.

The government knows fact checking is damn near inconsequential so I'm starting to wonder if these stories are right leaning sourced as fuel for the hatred of the left. Cause the headline trumps (ha, pun intended) whatever the fact checking results are anyways. It's like "oh well the story wasn't true, or severely embellished....BUT THE LEFT WOULD DO THAT!"

OR is the left really just that stupid? and I'm not talking about the elected officials. on the contrary they are geniuses being able to constantly get support from their constituents with the shite they pull off.
