From what I understand the safety concerns are not so much with the bridge failing structurally but just it is outdated as far as lane width, grade etc. The concerns with the soil beneath the supports is again not so much structural but environmental contamination that would have to be mitigated at great expense if it is disturbed. A local group of business folks have gotten together and have come up with a solution. Build a bridge just to the north of the existing bridge and simply span the contamination. The bridge would be built by a private contractor who would collect tolls. Not sure how the fed funds things work on these things. I have respect for the people who are involved and support their efforts.

so you think our federal government is inept and has been for a decade+?

Yes. I agree with all your arguments in prior posts, but this doesn’t help prove your point

No complaints here if they can do it.

It’s worth a dollar.

It’s a federal interstate highway.

yes, the federal government initially allocated the funds for the construction of the bridge. Today, federal dollars are allocated to each state for discretional spending on roads and bridges. That includes maintenance and new construction.

If you have a local problem, and the federal government gives your local elected officials money to fix the local problem, the onus is on you, the citizen, to elect local officials who will fix the problem. Increasing big brother federal government only exacerbates problems in inefficiency, it's never the solution.

If you want shite to get built or fixed, stop putting worthless local officials in office who care more about social programs than infrastructure.
