How can people be allowed to drive on this bridge? If something were to happen wouldn't the state and/or federal government be held accountable and negligent for leaving it open to the public? See below from my work, warning us not to take this bridge.

The Calcasieu River Bridge on I-10 has been given a very low safety rating. We urge caution and recommend avoiding this route for any travel, please note that travel on any company business shall be restricted to an alternate route. In most cases, the Lake Charles bypass (I-210) is a viable alternative.
The National Bridge Inventory (NBI) has rated the Calcasieu river bridge a 6.6 out of 100. (That is six point six out of 100, not a typo.)
(FYI - The I-35 West Mississippi River bridge in Minneapolis had a rating of 50 when it collapsed in 2007.)
Opened in 1952 with a 50-year lifespan, the I-10 bridge was designed for 37,000 vehicle crossings per day. An average of 81,710 vehicles crossed the bridge daily in 2016. Please plan on using the I-210 bridge,
to the south of I-10 instead (it has a rating of 73.9).

The bridge in Minnesota that failed was rated a 26. Yeah, avoid that bridge.

It really is rated a 6.6 and is one of the most dangerous bridges in America. I'll never cross it again.

No idea. This came from my safety department and we are not allowed to drive this route while on company business.

that bridge is evaluated pretty regularly by the feds. it literally just had a ton of work done last year to handle the overflow due to the 210 work that's going on now. that safety rating is based on the narrow lanes and angle of ascent, not the risk of the bridge falling

This hoax has been going on for over a decade

Old news, really. But i think the rating is just becoming more known now. It should have been replaced 10 years ago. FWIW, there are plans to build a new bridge, but there is no funding for it. So you'll get the new bridge once the old one collapses.

i'll say this. the risk of an issue with the bridge is significantly higher than the risks associated with MoMo

No money the Republicans are so cheap they would rather put it on a wall than the safety of our on people. No infrastructure for the federal government.
