My daughter turned 18 in 2016 and voted for Hillary because she considered Trump a loutish heathen. She also tuned me out regarding politics because I went at her pretty hard at first. So I took a more hands off approach and just prayed she would see the light.

The next year she interned for a Republican Florida state representative and followed that up by spending the summer in DC working for Republican John Rutherford. She is now a registered Republican and starting a fellowship to work in DC again and really wants to work for Tim Scott if possible. We’re extremely proud and also very relieved needless to say.

Tell your friend we just kept reminding our daughter how much we love her and never wavered in our support of her. Certainly no guarantee it will work for her but it may be better than a confrontational approach. Good luck to her!!
