The fact is that President Bush (and I as press secretary) faithfully and accurately reported to the public what the intelligence community concluded.

The CIA, along with the intelligence services of Egypt, France, Israel and others concluded that Saddam had WMD. We all turned out to be wrong. That is very different from lying.

Ok, you guys can resume telling me about all the WMDs now.

I think the deep state wanted a war. I think Bush and co were more than happy to give it to them.

I honestly can't believe that Fleischer has the audacity to defend himself, Bush, or his administration, in light of the fact that American soldiers effectively died for no reason, by his own admission. He should be embarrassed of himself.

My theory: Mr Ari is loyal to another government and another people, and despite all that happened in Iraq, his people were hardly impacted, even if the Iranian Terror (TM) has been picking up Ws in the years since.

Getting rid of SH was big for them. Worth it for sure.

I thought the whole issue here is they stovepiped the intelligence. Not unlike the dossier. Just keep passing around the info you want to justify your conduct and then make it the pretext for war.

He couldn't "use" them. You don't really know what happened and it's too politicized now to have any real discussion, but please, just take the word of the former president and his press secretary.

Yes. It's even worse than "getting it wrong"

I somewhat believe him.

I don’t think Bush lied. I’m not sure Saddam wanted us to believe he had WMDs either...he had to have known if we believed it then we would invade Iraq and he loses power.

The intelligence community lied because that’s what they do. They no longer objectively pursue real intelligence, they are profit and agenda driven and regularly make shite up in order to get what they want.

I think it's more important to understand that there is a silent war in these agencies over the narrative, and the bad guys often win that war, because intelligence is subordinate to politics. Actually, intelligence is subordinate to a lot of things.

I happen to spend quite a bit of time with state and IC peeps these days, mostly in social settings because the country I work in sucks so all the white people hang out together at the few expat bars and house parties and shite.

My impression is that most are actually pretty intelligent people who just really aren't concerned too much with their actual jobs but rather boasting about how smart they are and how important their job is. Being successful at their job isn't even an afterthought. Just having the job and being in that circle is the goal as opposed to actually accomplishing anything useful.

Which leads me to conclude that there was a liar and his name was Saddam Hussein. He created an elaborate system of lies to fool western intelligence services and he succeeded. He wanted us to believe he had WMDs

Quoting this again for lulz

"Blame the dead guy" game seems to get a lot of mainstream play with these people.

I'm sure they also have some very interesting reasons why Assad would launch multiple chemical attacks that basically represent one of a very limited number of pretexts for full blown US entry in Syria.

Probably some Freudian Pop Psychology about genitalia and lusting for family members. You never know with these media types.

Perfect description. What’s really funny is that all these State/IC/UN/NGO chicks are the poster children for feminism. You’ll hear them talk about the gender pay gap and toxic masculinity and gender equality all that fricking nonsense. And every single one of them are fricking team guys and the like. The “alpha” males that they like to say they despise are the ones they’re guving it up to every fricking night. It almost makes me feel bad for the dainty state and UN dudes because they spend all day working with these whores probably agreeing with them on their feminist bullshite and they never get their dick wet.

You can laugh if you want, but I have friends who directly suffered from what we found and with my own eyes saw evidence, in country.

Oh and the NYT admitted as much...

You have no fricking clue what you are talking about. Besides whatever news source you choose to buy into, what do you know about our intelligence community?
