British officials seize hundreds of child sex dolls at border

Officials have seized hundreds of child sex dolls at Britain's borders over the last 18 months, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
However, there are no specific laws prohibiting the possession of the dolls. British prosecutors have implemented Victorian law to prosecute suspects caught trying to import child sex dolls into the country, the New York Post reported.
Prosecutors are going after suspects using the Customs Consolidation Act of 1876, along with the Customs and Excise Acts of 1979, which prohibit the import of indecent or obscene articles, in an effort to stop the trade.
Suspects who are caught trying to bring the dolls into the country could face up to seven years behind bars.
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children hopes that the move would hinder the sales of the dolls.
"There is no ambiguity that they are designed to depict children and their purpose is to stimulate sex," a spokesperson told the New York Post. "We have serious worries that adults who use sex dolls could become desensitized and their behavior would become normal to them so that they go on to harm children."
Earlier this week, a 61-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months in jail for possession of a doll and making indecent photos.
Donald Styles of Newton Abbot in Devon, England, claimed that he bought his 3-foot doll from China for an art project.
After the doll was seized by customs officials, police raided his home where they reportedly found nearly 150 films and images of child abuse, including rape.
The majority of those recently convicted with child sex doll possession were also found with indecent photos of children, according to National Crime Agency specialist operations manager Hazel Stewart.
"There is no place in society for these dolls. Importing them is a crucial flag to potential offending against children," Stewart told the newspaper.

it also could do the opposite and give pedos an outlet
this isn't a simple issue and sadly it's too taboo to get real science behind it, i reckon. it would be greatly beneficial to have real data

It's a real simple issue. You molest a kid, you die. Like I said, simple.

It not “taboo” or a stigma- it’s that institutional review boards that Are responsible for approving research will not allow it because it could result in REAL damage happening to innocent kids.

My only concern: is there escalation of behavior? That is, what if the dolls, after a period of time, are not enough to satisfy?
Disclaimer: I am not a behaviorist so I may be out of my depth here.

Interesting point
I have thought about this some...
We could extrapolate to women/couples who watch porn. If they watch/enjoy a threesome , does that make them more likely to scratch that itch or satiate that desire by watching alone?

Would child sex robots stop pedophilia — or promote it? Some say the devices could provide a safe outlet for individuals who are sexually attracted to children.

I fully agree. At the same time, possession of sex doll, no matter its appearance, should not be illegal. Writing rape or murder fantasy literature should not be illegal. If you think it should be, then all literature, music, and movies that depict illegal activities should be outlawed as well.
As SFP said, it could be an outlet that prevents action against a real person. "It may lead to illegal actions" is the same argument that anti-2A people use. Until someone actually does something against another human or supports it, this is only supporting the thought police, no matter how disgusting the thought is.
It is easy to accept the state acting as the thought police in this manner, but when has the state ever stopped grabbing for more power after citizens have acquiesced once? The Brits gave up guns. Now, they are outlawing knives. The government will never cede the power its citizens give them.

Well its Britain and they have a lot of muslims there now.
And their prophet was a pedophile so they see this as a religious right.
Wont be long and the mayor of London will decry this as persecution.

Some people will not take it past watching porn, others will find the excitement of watching porn ain’t working anymore and take it to the real world....I’ve known several acquaintances from my past that went way past watching porn to hooking up with swinger parties, multiple partners and group sex to get their jollies. I haven’t associated with any of them for over 30 years.

The vast majority of alpha genetic British stock was killed in WW1 and WW2 ,all that was left were marxists, pedophiles, cucks and other degenerates and the mentally ill.

that's why i said i wish we had real data to know if escalation was a concern of if it could be a safe outlet for terrible urges

That's dumb. Let's say I wrote murder fantasies about killing democrats... no wait, let's say I wrote murder fantasies about killing libertarians.
Do you think writing and visualizing this kind of thing is going to make me less likely to act out on that particular action?
Whole idea seems ludicrous to me.
As a side note, freedome of speech, yeah got it. It's actually useful.
But you pay for that. Our legitimacy rate goes lower every year. And wouldn't you know it, Hollywood promotes just that sort of behavior.
Couldn't possibly affect anyone out there among the public right? They are all rational actors or something.
But you know, we have advertising, and that works right?
You really don't think TV shows have any effect, other than "entertainment?"

I wonder what religious group is bringing in these dolls...

This is how I think of it. Making it illegal to frick a doll is essentially enforcing a thought crime.
And there’s always the chance that a person, likely from Florida, is actually turned on by dolls and not real kids at all.

In a thread about this very issue (where those who were arrested claimed they were using them for art). Visuals tell a more complete story
I agree that this stuff is abhorrent (which is why we must face it )
