Never understood why people call it the left lane. In racing you have the outside and inside lane. The faster cars stay to the outside lane. Only the American highway system could get it backwards.

Probably because most all of the exits are to the right. Hence slower traffic.

Yes, absolutely. The same people who travel 55 mph in the left lane if I-10 are definitely going to be able to differentiate inside/outside vs just left

Besides, they travel on the outside lane because the curves aren't as sharp. If you need to take the lead you move inside, because the curves are sharp but the distance is shorter. Hence the term, "inside track".
