Trump is making it happen. Let's see if Trump can save us all.

I mean, historically, whoever occupied Asia Minor generally extended their power to Egypt and North Africa as well as the levant more broadly. It was pretty rare that a power was just limited to the landmass of Asia Minor itself. The fact they occupy Asia Minor is such a massive geopolitical advantage, as they can access all of West Asia far more easily than any other power.

Part of this rivalry has developed because Obama wanted to leave the Eastern Mediterranean to its own devices. And then Arab Spring happened, which caused a lot of chaos and made the extra-territorial aspirations of Turkey, Israel and Iran possible.

I feel like both Israel and Turkey have this idea of an either “Greater Israel” or “Greater Turkey”. And eventually those ideas will or have already clashed.

The reality is that whoever controls Istanbul controls a massive degree of wealth. Israel is in the junior position without the US and nuclear weapons. But the Turks are always hard to read.

It would get very ugly in the Middle East. No one is really talking about this conflict that is brewing too. I think that’s strange because a conflict like this could spiral out of control very easily.

Actually, I think that the ME was worse off when Iranian militias were positioned outside Damascus. In 2020 or so, the mood was as bad as you could possibly imagine. The fall of Assad has opened up new opportunities and has sidelined Iran and Hezbollah. The Turks here have the most opportunity, as they could play several parties if their allegiance to NATO isn't completely resolute. Otherwise, I think Israel has to check their own ambition for the moment.

And hindsight being 20/20, France was absolutely correct to not get involved in a useless war.

Didn't turkey just send troops into syria? You would think THAT is what they would be occupied with.

Trump needs to immediately withdraw from NATO. We don't need to be involved in that shite show one more minute. Chalk it up to a loss.

Will they be sending their S400 SAM system to protect them?

Sending troops into an active war zone for a 'peace keeping' mission.

Well, it did involve ethnic Russians. What's Turkey's excuse for showing up?

Why do people seem to forget this part of NATO history sometimes?

Walk away. Europe would look much different without U.S. intervention.

Time to let the chips fall where they must.
