Why are people not abandoning this service they hate?
As people have stated, this was tried with Gab.
These companies then all ban Gab from being hosted just out of coincidence?
Not buying it.

Having an arm of the government force a private business to enact certain policies is decidedly not in favor of the free market.
So you think that allowing dem darkies to sit at the lunch counter was a bad thing? Kinda an anti free market thing? 'K.

Having an arm of the government prosecute either a civil or criminal case because its politics differ from that of a ruling party is even worse.
You darkies shouldn't in school with the other folks. 'K.

Obviously, antitrust is a separate albeit related issue.

Theres a super simple solution that will quickly send the right message for this behavior... quit using said service.
Shut up he explained.

Bout time! These companies are already using their power to influence 2020.
They were doing it back in '16.
Amazing to me that they haven't learned that suppressing facts doesn't make them any less real.

Then his response will be, “start a company that creates phones and their operating system so that you can then create a marketplace to compete with them so that you can create something to compete Twitter.”

People think the real power of big tech lies with the ability to censor whomever. Thats partually true.
The bigger power is with the data it has on everyone. Every keystroke, voice conversation, browser search, email, text, etc is all stored by big tech. In other words YOU are the product.
If you really want to end that dominance quit using services by google, facebook, etc.
If facebook had 40% of their users quit over night the company would crash.
How is this so difficult to figure out?

Snapchat and Instagram were started by college kids.
Amazing the tech giants didn’t stop them.
(They bought Instagram but the founder sold out)
Maybe there isn’t a market for far right Facebook.

Its up to every business owner to serve whomever he wants in a manner that he wants.
Otherwise when you need a gay dildo birthday cake my bakery will be forced to serve you
Or are you going to tell me that the gheys deserve their dildo cakes and we need our govt to help?

The difficulty lies in the implementation. It’s not going to happen. Which I suppose is likely the reason you see it as an easy thing to propose as a “solution.”
I could think of plenty of great things that could happen if I could convince 40% of the world to do something. Problem is, we all live in reality.

If Trump said tonight that every conservative needs to delete their social media, Silicon Valley would shite bricks.
Ask yourself why this isn't happening?

Ask Scruffy what Standard Oil would have done if someone turned off the spigots to their oil.
Would they have gone under?

1. It is the most accessible and easy way to get his message out, considering the media’s inability to put anything positive and Trump in the same sentence.
2. It is a political weapon to motivate his base (this is despite my opinion that the tech industry needs to be fractured into smaller entities).

The problem is that instead of having different companies offer services interoperable with one another to create a decentralized network of services, the big companies gobble up every single new startup with good ideas, patents, or public momentum, creating huge monolithic companies that dominate the internet.
How is this any different than the net neutrality argument?

quote:Exactly.
They always say..."derr if you don't like it, start your own social media platform ".. but when people do start their own social media platform, all the big social media platforms team up and make sure it doesn't really take off.
It’s next to impossible to start a competitor to any of these social media giants because they have a stranglehold on the tech businesses needed to do it.

Right. My point is not that conservatives need to outcompete silicon valley, its that they need to realize they themselves are the commodity being traded.
