Has he been paying taxes on the unearned interest or was Joe collecting interest payments?
I thought “loans” over 10k had to incur the fed min interest rate or taxes would be owed on the unearned interest.
Because without charging interest, a $200,000 loan is well over the $17,000 gift-tax exemption.
I’m sure the Biden family will have the appropriate tax records though.

They literally admit they gave him money because they wanted to purchase his name's influence, specifically in the middle east.
They then wire it to his personal account, not his business account. On the exact same day he writes a check from his personal account for the exact same amount.
It stretches incredulity to believe it is anything else than what it is. We know what it is. You know what it is.
Joe will need to come up with an explanation and viable documentation, or the Rs will need to demonstrate that there was none.

Theoretically.
But getting paid off by a bankrupt corporation and then immediately turning around to pay that entire amount over to your brother the VP just looks shady as hell. Especially when the corp in question said they only dealt with you because of the last name.

I don't know. You're asking about criminality. Comer is only interested in influence peddling, thus making Biden a liability in office.
Like I said, devil's advocate. If this is truly a loan, then the Bidens will be able to easily prove it.

No doubt. But that only makes the corporation look shady. What's the point of a last name if you can't use it.

why is James borrowing 200K from Joe? James is the wealthy businessman and Joe is just a middle-class hard scrabble lawyer from Scranton who takes the train to work.
