Why not just carry anyway but only pull it out in situations like today?
Because when you get random searched at the gate and they find a gun it's a Felony to bring a firearm on a military base..
And now would NOT be the time to start carrying since they are going to ramp up searches of cars for the next month.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The Huntsville Police Department and FBI have arrested a man on terrorism charges.
Aziz Sayyed, 22, was arrested at the intersection of Church Street and Clinton Avenue Thursday afternoon. The arrest was announced in a joint press conference later that afternoon.
A court appearance is scheduled for July 5.
Sayyed faces a state charge of soliciting or providing support for an act of terrorism. Madison County Jail records show is being held without bond.
Agents could not go into details of the allegations but said the threat included the Huntsville and Madison County area, including Redstone Arsenal.
"We do not discuss the installation's security conditions. We always appreciate the close work and cooperation within our law enforcement community which keeps Team Redstone safe and secure each and every day," said Chris Colster, U.S. Army Garrison, Redstone Arsenal spokesman.
Agents said there is no standing threat.

This!
Yeah, I had a situation with a DoD cop once at the gate...he asked me if I had any weapons...I responded yes...I had 13 of them....he looked shocked..then I showed him my golf bag in my back seat....I said...you said weapons...you didn't say guns or knives. I got the stink eye after that.

Cool. Yeah We are going to an Ice wedding in Jan 2019 up in Sirkka. Buddy from England is getting married in an ice chapel there.
Any problems with English or do I need to learn something else to get around?

So the current rumor is that it is a woman who has now barricaded herself somewhere in the build. Supposedly 5301 has been evacuated, and the police are in there now.
Not sure how accurate that is, but that is the rumor going around my building.
I know a girl that works in that building..she definitely has them crazy eyes.

I have never been in the Lapland region. If it's a tourist trap area then speaking English won't be a problem. Down here in the south I never really need to speak any Finnish. It's mostly the older generation of people that don't speak English. It may take you a few minutes to understand their "rally English" as they call it, but once you get your ears tuned into them they are easy to understand.

What's this got to do with anything? OH you wanted it to be islamist terrorism. Instead it appears to be a false alarm. I can't tell if you're happy or sad.
Thank God it was nothing and everyone is alive.
