Wow. Didn't know this was legal.

They didn't lie...and maybe you misunderstood. I meant "pumped" as in highlighted...not literally pumped oil.

The wolfcamp was not found 2 months ago. You're mixing up APA's Alpine High with the USGS Wolfcamp assessment...the wolfcamp has been an unconventional target being exploited by companies like APA and PXD (just to name a couple of publics) for several years. There have been several huge transactions over the last couple months involving private companies selling to publics. This has been a hot active play for a while.

energy independence is the goal - this is worth a TRUMP infrastructure project, so we can supply our own needs

there's something to be said for that...

What in your view does energy independence mean?

oil is not a "fossil fuel"....it is a renewable resource.

don't live in texas, but this is probably only good news for consumers and china. a large discovery is going to keep oil prices down for a long period of time.

It makes me wonder what the end game of announcing this right now is.

There is nothing breaking about this "discovery". The Midland and Delaware basins have been well delineated and tested by public and privates for several years. There is a reason the valuations have been out of control even during the downturn, these basins deliver a lot of landing zones and high OOIPs. But still not proven. I think the $/AC metrics are way overvalued considering the market frenzy created as being touted as THE play during downturn. This drove Permian acreage in higher demand being justified with unreasonable PUD locations and development pace.

The problem to me is the public market keeps giving stupid values to acquisitions. Drives a dangerous machine IMO.
