Brandon deserves credit!

quote:

The White House said Wednesday it has helped broker an agreement for the Port of Los Angeles to become a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week operation, part of an effort to relieve supply chain bottlenecks and move stranded container ships that are driving prices higher for U.S. consumers.

President Joe Biden planned to discuss the agreement during a speech Wednesday afternoon about supply chain issues that have hampered the economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. The supply chain problem is tightly linked with the broader challenge of inflation confronting Biden.

Huh, I would have thought this would have already been the case... So, how much money will be funneled to the port of LA in order to accomplish this?

Don't they have a worker shortage?

So how does this help.

It doesnt.

The only way the federal government can help this situation is by getting tf out of their way.

Add this to the list of things Brandon has f*cked up.

Immigration
Jobs
Afghanistan
Covid
Energy prices
Inflation
and now Trade

Correct. Any rational person would know that IF the port could stay open they already would be open.

We are still capitalists for a bit longer

Well, to be fair, the Federal government could get the local government and state government out of the way, then get the frick out of the way itself...

But if they do that, how are Brandon's friends supposed to continue to profit?

Another thing that might help is cranes.

They should use cranes to lift and load the cargo to speed up the process.

Just going to subsidize salaries with Federal Tax Dollars, drive up inflation, and show other industries that if enough people go live off the government teet for a few months, they will get a gigantic raise and drive inflation up even more....Cheers! Happy Hump Day

i bet a 12 billion dollar federal grant to clean barnacles off of the ships' hulls would fix this!

I could have solved this without brokering any special deal. Simply stop paying people to stay home, stop telling them they won't get evicted, and end any other draconian vaccine mandates.

I don’t think this is the good news he thinks this is.

By that, I don’t mean “This is bad or unneeded.”

I mean “This is shite that any other competent executive would have been on well before now.”

They could put cargo in these box like things so the cranes can lift more cargo at the time too... I think I will send Brandon an email with the suggestion...

The problems in this case are mainly bullshite caused by Newsom and the mayor of LA limiting the ability of longshoremen and truckers from unloading ships and shipping the materials.

It was government red tape and not a case of people paid too much to accept a job.

The administration could also help by pushing international trade partners to stop the foolishness as well.

Uhhhh, does he not know that almost every Port works 24/7? Labor is usually ordered by the Port Authority or the Stevedore in labor blocks of 8-12 hours. When you plan to work a ship, you try to make it work in those hours, or you have to hire a second gang for the 8-12 hour slot. True, they may not be "working" for that entire time, but that is more due to union mandated breaks.

Also, there are a finite number of berths and cranes to work those ships. You can't just say, frick it, here is some more money, lets get the backlog done. these ships are typically on a service and as soon as you send one on the way, the next one on that service comes to your port.

Brandon didn't do diddly frick that the Ports were not already doing.

Ding, ding, ding... Throw the unions in there too because they are complicit in this shite as well...

But first, they need to do some environmental studies to see how it will affect marine life.
